Employee of the Year

We were told we needed to attend the Chamber of Commerce awards banquet this year. We don't usually attend, but I was told one of us (aka Kenney) would be getting an award, and we would need to be there. Kenney was named the Wellington Employee of the Year. It was such a surpise to him, especially because of the way the people are selected. There is not a list of names to choose from, people in the community just write names down on a blank line. Kenney's name appeared enough times for him to win! He truly does such a fantastic job at work and really everything he attempts. He puts his heart and attention to all that he does, and it shows! I am so glad others are able to recoginze his efforts and sincerity as he helps those around him. Our children are very blessed to have such a good example.

The man of the hour, and such a well deserved honor!
Kenney parents came and Kyler was there serving the dinner as part of the student council.
Our friend Rachae Barlow won Woman of the Year.  She does a lot to serve and help the community and was deserving of this honor also.
Kenney was presented this award by Karen Caldwell.  He worked with her mom and knew the family well.  It very touching for him to hear what was said about him and his efforts to help people through his job.  He really does try to do his best and be what his patients need most.
This year's Chamber of Commerce Award Recipients.
The hospital administrator, Candy Powell loves Kenney and was very proud of his recognition.

This is what was said about Kenney before he received his award:

Wellington Employee of the Year - 2024
Collingsworth County, Wellington, Texas.

This award recognizes an employee who goes beyond the realm of great customer service and hard work, showing a friendly attitude and good work ethic. Customer service satisfaction really is the true test of a good employee. One comment on our nomination form told us that this young man was great with her mother in the hospital. He is always patient and kind and goes above and beyond for his patience and coworkers. He is wise, caring, and compassionate.

This young man attended Wellington elementary and attended Childress with his family where he graduated from high school. He took time off from college and served a mission, in England to teach them about Jesus Christ. After completing a bachelor's degree, he completed his education at Texas Tech University with a doctorate degree. He and his family joined Collingsworth General Hospital in 2015. He serves his community as the member of the Ritz board and the WAC board, and coaches many of his kids in several sports. He is an active participant in his church, and he serves people regularly. He loves his family and enjoys taking his boys camping, and in his spare time he will always choose to spend time with his family.

Wellington is so blessed to have Kenney Keys as our physical therapist. He is a silent pillar of the community- where he is not the most vocal or outspoken, but his influence, wisdom, and contribution are seen in many community events and committees. Kenney's empathy and compassion are seen every time he treats a patient or interacts with a friend. Kenney is married to Elizabeth and they have five children. - Kyler, Radley, Damon, Bentley, and Mackenzie.

Our 2024 employee of the year is Kenney Keys
