HONEY

Our bees are gone!!! It was a huge blow and extremely disappointing. I think the worst part is that we really don't know what happened to them, so it's hard to learn from what happened because we don't know what happened. When Kenney went to go get the honey from the hive, robber bees had already begun stealing the honey. We aren't exactly sure how much honey they had taken, but it was a significant amount. Another hit in a not so good situation. What impressed me the most was that Kenney got upset initially and was disappointed, however he didn't linger on the bad and immediately started planning on what to do for next year and how to make the best of what he had.

Although Kenney bought a flow hive so we wouldn't have to do this.  I'm actually glad we got the opportunity to do this.
It was so cool to watch the honey.
After scrapping the wax and honey we placed it into cheesecloth and put it over the strainer.
Slow drips through the strainer
Look at all that honey!!  I say, overall it was a very successful haul.

It was very satisfying to watch the honey flow from the frames. As sad as it was to lose the bees at least we got something from it!

It was also mesmerizing to see the honey drip cleanly into the bowls.

We needed to clean up the beehive frames, so I told Kenney to stick them outside and let the bees and other bugs clean them off.  It was amazing how fast and efficient they were!

School Stuff

Kyler had to build a dog-run for his reading class.
This is what Kyler, Kenney, and I came up with.  It's made of 2 sizes of popsicles, rocks, dirt, trees, and saran-wrap for windows.
Now next year we have to come up with a different plan for Damon's project.  Any suggestions or ideas on how to make this differently are welcome!!
I noticed Kyler wrote this on one of his papers for writing.  He truly believed that Papa shot the turkey we eat every year for Thanksgiving.
Radley had Johnny Appleseed Day at school.  They made 'pots' for hats at school.
He also needed to bring an apple treat.  This is what we decided.  He said they were pretty good.

These Girls

These pictures are getting harder and harder to take because she doesn't stay on her back very well anymore, but she's getting big so fast.  However, it's hard to believe she's only been with us 9 months!!  She stands really well on her own, but she chickens out and refuses to stand there once she realizes she's standing alone.  Kenney thinks she may be walking by the end of the month.  We'll see!
Radley was the bad guy during our Come Follow Me lesson trying to break in to the fortress the other 3 had built.  So he later showed us the 'Armor of God' with his shield, helmet (or mask), breastplate, and sword.  We definitely improvised, but it worked!
"Mom, I wanted outside!!"
"I really want outside!"
This girl cannot relax.  She has to sit forward with her arms gripping the edge.
Sometimes she is happy enough to let me get my walking in.

Bentley picks up on music pretty quickly, and listening to her try and say the words to this song is so funny.  It's a song to help kids learn the order of the books in The New Testament and has some pretty big words.  Then Radley and Kyler show off and sing it too!

Kenney was convinced that Mackenzie gets the remote, points it to the TV, and tries to make it work.  I think he's right!  She seems to want to make it do something.

This girl LOVES to dance!!  Anytime she hears music she starts to move, and then if she sees you even move your head she starts to move her whole body.  It's so fun to watch.

Bentley loves it when Mackenzie plays with her.

Mackenzie being shy. She does this all the time with any stranger and sometimes at home too.

Playing Football with Dad & More

Any chance the boys get to have Kenney play with them, they can't get enough!! I love watching them all play because everyone is having fun. Radley loves getting to play on Dad's team; Kyler loves to throw the ball; Damon loves to compete in any way (he never plays just for fun, winning is his fun). Bentley prances around doing all sorts of things, and MJ just likes being outside.  And the puzzle building continues.

Run Radley, Run!!

Blocked by Dad

The sky that night was beautiful that night.
Finished the deer; it was a pretty tough puzzle.
Bentley's cheer spot.
Two of the super tiny puzzles.

Here are some of the videos of Kenney playing with the boys. They love it when he's out there.

The boys, Radley's the expert, were catching grasshoppers.  MJ thought they were funny.  Then the boys started to give them to her.  She tried to eat them, but she still thought they were hilarious.

Early September

The first weekend of September Kenney was in Utah at his grandma's funeral. The kids and I didn't make the trip so we spent a lot of time with other cousins who were without a dad for the weekend too. Of course the kids were out of school early on Friday and didn't even have school on Monday, so we had even more time together! We spent Friday here and had a movie night with lots of popcorn. Saturday we went to the store and then spent the rest of the day with cousins. We played at their house and went swimming. They had hot dogs at the pool so it made dinner super easy on us!! The next day we went to church and spent more time with cousins. Finally, mom was mean and made everyone come home Sunday night. Everyone was disappointed, but I needed better sleep!

Kyler and I spent a lot of time one morning sorting all of the extra coins we had laying around.  We got $74!!
Sweet baby girl had a hard time going to sleep when Daddy wasn't with us.
That's a lot of kids for 2 moms!!
Mackenzie fell onto the tile floor and got her first big bruise!
Damon thought it was funny that MJ was helping with the dishes.
Messy messy girl
Noodles everywhere!
