Just Life

This post is just full of random every day life for the Krazy Keys!  Everyday is a new adventure and full of unlimited possibilities, just ask Damon!!  Radley continues to think he's one of the big boys, and that kid is destruction on two feet!!  Kyler and Damon call him the Messy Monster, and he fills those shoes very well!  He makes more messes than either one of the other two did at this age.  I am amazed.  For the most part, he is a pretty happy little guy, so I can't really complain!  Damon is more full of life than anyone I know.  I literally cannot keep up with him.  He has the highest of highs and the lowest of lows!  Seriously he is either laughing or crying.  There is not much middle ground for that kid!  Kyler is happy and recovering well from his surgery.  He is almost back to normal.  Lately he has been able to keep himself occupied with puzzles and coloring, and I have to say it is so nice!!  Kenney is back to a super busy school schedule.  He is a TA (Teacher's Assistant) for the anatomy lab and will be home about 2 hours a day.  He comes home for dinner around 5 and leaves by 7 to be back at the school!  We have a long summer ahead of us, but we are excited!!

One of the messes of the day.  I'm still stepping on Rice Krispies, and it's been 3 days.  (And for those of you wondering, I have swept the floor multiple times!)

These little hoodlums had just thrown cups full of water onto the shower ceiling and then proceeded to throw the cups up there to knock off all the texture that was on the ceiling.  Why is there texture on the ceiling in the shower? I'm not sure, but this how satisfied Kyler and Damon were at what they had done!  They spent a lot of time on the couch while the mess was being cleaned up!

This happens quite frequently in our house!

The only one that gives me a real smile for the camera.

This is my attempt to get a picture of all three boys!  Lets just say this was the best one of the bunch!

However, I thought this one was pretty cute!

It's all fun and games...
until the baby shuts you in!!  Yes, there was much screaming involved when this happened!!

It finally RAINED!!!!  We were all so excited.  It happened mostly over Memorial Day weekend so we weren't able to get out and do fun things, but the wet sand box at our friends' house suited Kyler just fine!  Between him and Damon we went through 4 pair of underwear by the time that we left!
Damon didn't have much to do with the mud and sand, but he loved the water and rain!
Yes, he actually fell asleep like this!
One day at the gym the boys sat on the bench and said, "Take a picture of us Mom!"
Day #2 with the posing!
Damon squeezes me like this all the time!!
He really does like the swing even though the picture doesn't show it.

I just adore this sweet boy so much!!

Who could say no to those blue eyes and innocent face?!?  He knows I can't!

These boys like to make deals.  Kyler started a while ago, and now Damon is making deals too.  Usually their deals involve either treats or going places.  Sometimes I agree to their deals, but most of the time a compromise is needed!

Damon was in quite the talkative mood this particular afternoon. Here he is explaining why he cannot find his pillow. The night before he had an accident in his bed and got pee on his pillow. I had put the pillow in the laundry room because I needed to wash it, and he couldn't find it on his bed.

Radley deals with his big brothers extremely well!! Damon was being nice and trying to push him in the swing, but he is rather rough, as you can see, but Radley loves it!! He starts laughing towards the end.

Kyler's Surgery

Kyler had his surgery this week, and we are happy to report that he is doing well. He is still recovering and very sore, but hopefully in the next 2 weeks he will be back to normal. Overall, the experience was pretty smooth with the surgery. We really liked his doctor (it was the same doctor Radley has for his surgery too). We got to the hospital at 6:00am and the surgery started at 8:30. While we were in the holding room, he kept pretending he was asleep and was making the nurses laugh.  Apparently he kept his act going as they took him into the operating room and became quite the comedian.  The doctors and nurses thought he was hilarious and should go into acting.  They said he didn't break character the whole time!!  The surgeon said she tried to tickle him and everything, but he would not open his eyes.  Even the nurse that had him in recovery was talking about what he was doing in the OR. Thankfully it was outpatient surgery so we did not have an overnight stay in the hospital.

However, Radley starting throwing up and got really sick the day before the surgery.  He was absolutely miserable.  He could not be consoled and just thrashed around crying and throwing up.  Nana came to help which was a huge blessing.  She stayed with Damon and Radley while we took Kyler to the hospital.  He kept all of us up the night before (we had about 3hrs of broken sleep) and then Nana had to get barfed on and everything while we were gone.  We were so grateful she came to help!  The surgery was not nearly as dramatic as I thought it would be.  Radley being sick threw us for a loop, and we were worried we would be in the hospital with him.  Thankfully he stay hydrated enough we didn't have to take him, but having both Kyler and Radley down was tough.  Damon then started to feel left out, so we are very grateful this week is finished!!

Overall, Kyler took the surgery really really well.  He has been really sore, but has been one tough cookie.  He hasn't complained and only got Tylenol once and that was because Damon jumped and landed right on his incision (that was a little rough for everyone).  I'm proud of my Kyler Dude for being so brave and such a sweetheart through everything this week!

Waiting and waiting (we had to be there at 6:00am but the surgery didn't start til 8:30.  Why did we need to get there so early??)

Kyler was just happy Spongebob was on TV.  We don't have cable or anything so he was content being up that early!

In the holding room he started to get a little goofy!  I think he was really beginning to wonder what was going on at this point!

He liked the special hat they let him wear.  One lady came in and talked to him about what was going to happen by showing pictures of everything (the lights in the OR, the doctors, etc.) and letting him hold things like the oxygen mask.  I think that really helped him once he began to see all the things she showed him in the pictures.

He was being quite a clown.  It really made me feel a lot more at ease.   I think it would have been a lot harder if he was really nervous, but he was really happy!

I love how easy going he can be!

This is after they gave him some medicine to help him get sleepy.  He is squinting here and obviously still awake, but he didn't open his eyes from this point on!

I don't want to have to wear anymore of these wrist bands for my kids!  I'm just grateful it hasn't been for any life threatening situations.

They would only let one of us into recovery waiting for him to wake up.  I went back there while Kenney was in the hall.  It only took about 15 mins after I got back there for him to wake up.

He did a lot of things most kids don't do when they wake up, including throw up.  He said he wanted a Popsicle when he woke up, but he never ate it (totally unlike Kyler).  He kept telling us his tummy hurt and I was afraid he would throw up from the anesthesia or because he got what Radley had, but the nurse said it was just deferred pain from the surgery.  Well he kept saying it, and she decided to give him some Tylenol.  Not a minute later, he threw up!  I guess he knows his body pretty well!  She also said he really didn't need to pee, and he did that too!

The nurse told him the oxygen would help his tummy feel better, so he kept putting the mask to his face.  He liked that mask!  He was excited to bring it home to show Damon.

Scooby Doo on Netflix helped him feel much better after he threw up, and they let him move from recovery back to outpatient surgery.

He was glued to the screen!  I have never been so happy to watch/listen to Scooby Doo.  It really did help to make him happy.

Finally he was able to enjoy a Popsicle!!

Luckily we were able to go home after about an hour of being back from recovery.  He was really nervous to move around and do anything, but I think he was happy to go home!

This little boy got spoiled!  They gave him this blanket while he was waiting at the hospital, and they also gave him anything else he asked for at the hospital.  He had 2 packages to open when he got home from Oma & Papa Dude and Uncle Chris & Aunt Shandi.  His Daddy went and got him Popsicles.  He had friends bring him dinner and another friend brought a balloon and candy.  Uncle Cary Shane came to see him and brought candy too.  At one point this week he asked me, "Mom who is coming to our house to see me next?"  He loved people coming to see him!  We are so blessed that our family is loved by so many people.  We have gotten so many phone calls and texts checking in on him and Radley.  Thanks everyone for all the thoughts and prayers!

Playing Hard

These boys remind me everyday that life is to be enjoyed. They can find anything and play with it. I love that they can be happy in almost any circumstance. Even though they find plenty of things they should not be doing, they manage to laugh all through the day. I love hearing them laugh and having fun. It makes being a mom much easier. There is always excitement in our house!!

These boys adore their Daddy, and everything he does is so cool!  I can't seem to get their attention like this for the life of me!!

"Take a picture of me Mom."

Who could not love this cute little face?!?

Yep, that's just gross!!

Kyler is getting much better about hitting off a pitch.  He hits about 1 in 3 balls!!  He is starting to hit it pretty hard too!

Is this not the best picture?  He hit a foul ball right to his forehead!!  I can't believe I actually caught it hitting his head!

Everyone has to come out and play!

I love these two!!

Yes, sometimes I even play with them too!

Kyler is quite an interesting pitcher!  We don't quite understand why he thinks you need to throw the ball so high, but that's how he does it!

Damon taking a turn pitching to his friend Emily

Pretty sure that ball hit Damon in the head!!

Damon loves to be chased!

I love how he looks back at Kenney while he is running.  He gets so much excitement out of life!

Kenney got me this kitchen mat with gel/memory foam in it, and the boys love it! I find them like this everyday!!

Look who found the snack cabinet!!  He was making some noise in the kitchen and this is what he came back carrying.  Now all the snacks have to be on the counter because I have no where else to put the snacks!!

These boys still love to play anything that involves a ball. What else do little boys do?

Radley certainly thinks he is one of the big boys now! He just looks so little walking around, but I am amazed how sturdy he is on his feet!

Always on the GO

These boys are always moving. Now that there are 3 of them constantly moving (and not necessarily together) it is difficult to keep track of where they are all going! This last weekend we went to Nana & Papa's house, and the boys were EVERYWHERE!! Since Radley wants to keep up with the other two he never stays close. He thinks he can go anywhere they can go now that he is walking. And he sure does try!! All of them love being outside and playing, but mostly they just love the freedom to go out there any time they want. We don't have to have a family outing just to play outside.

This is always Damon's favorite car to play with in Childress.  I have yet to understand how pushing this thing around can be so fun, but he can do it for hours!
His face turns bright red every time he is outside.
Taking a break to pick his nose, very typical!
This is Kyler's favorite bike to ride.  He thinks he's so cool!
Always running!
This little cutie thinks he is so big now!
It's too hard to ride on the gravel so they push their rides up and down the driveway!
Kyler has to be the leader all the time now, and Damon lets him because he just wants to play.  If that means following Kyler's rules, so be it!
This little guy was not so sure of the grass.  He had never felt it before and was a little nervous.  We don't have any grass here, so it was a  new experience!
The boys were all outside with Papa.  I was trying to be sneaky and take pictures, but taking through the glass does not make for good pictures!
Sneaking around the corner of the house was not much better!  I just wanted these boys to remember how much they love their Papa and how much he loves them!
The boys!!
I'm not sure what Damon was pondering on the trampoline, but I thought it was so cute he was thinking so hard!
Kyler had to get a cavity fixed by Uncle Kevin while we were in Childress.  He did amazingly well!  I was certain he would never look or talk to Kevin again after having to get it fixed, but I was shocked how well everything went!!  Kevin was great, and Kyler got uncomfortable a few times, but it was minimal.  The TV on the ceiling really helped, as did the cool sunglasses he got to wear!  When he got back he started playing a dentist app on the iPad!!  He remembered what all the tools did!
The boys wanted to take a ride on Papa's new riding lawn mower, and he was more than happy to oblige!
This is Kyler enjoying the ice cream he got from going to the dentist.  I think it made up for the filling!
