Summer Fun!

A bunch of random stuff we did this summer!

Kenney received a pizza cutter from his mom for his birthday 6 weeks late and told him that he would remember her when she was dead because of the pizza cutter.  He then proceeded to make her a personalized pizza cutter engraved with her name and a message with the 3D printer.

4th of July treat!
4th of July hair
Happy 4th!
Metal detecting with Papa Dude on the Aaronic Priesthood campout
Kenney, Jason and the boys enjoying the show as, the people who didn't look at the weather scramble to keep their tents dry, as they sit in the car dry and not worrying about their tents because they didn't set them up until AFTER the storm passed!
They got another light shower in the morning, but Kenney put the tent away before it got to them.  I'm grateful he is aware of his surroundings!
After the rain

Not quite sure what is going on here
But even more confused here!!
Fun at the library
Radley decided to stay up all night at his friend's birthday party.  I'm pretty sure he regretted it because it didn't take him long to pass out on my bed in this position.
Turns out this girl loves a pole, haha!
Like really likes poles.
I made some wild plum jelly with my mom.  It was a lot of fun, and I learned a new skill.
This crew went to Six Flags at the end of the month before school stuff started again.
This was before it went bad.

There were so many G forces Papa lost a filling!
Pool hair, don't care!

Took advantage of the Barbie props!

Kenney is always fighting the kids, rodents, or the dogs as he tires to keep the yard nice.

We didn't get the best video, but this girl sings her heart out when singing Peaches!

Kenney wanted to make sure to record Nana's reaction to her pizza cutter.

This girl has some amazing brothers! It was so cute to watch this.

The boys had a great time at Six Flags. It was extremely hot, but hardly anyone was there. They walked right on to so many rides. Unfortunately, that didn't work out well for Kenney. He needed a little more recover time in between rides because he got so sick and spent most of the day sleeping it off in the car. Thankfully, Papa Dude and Keyan went with them so they were able to keep going. They ended up riding 17 or 18 rides that day, the big coasters!!

Mackenzie's Fractured/Broken Foot

While Mackenzie was at Oma & Papa Dude's house one day she was reaching across the chair to the couch and fell.  The top of her foot landed on the hard floor.  She told Papa it hurt, but she actually seemed fine.  After a week of not walking on it correctly, Kenney decided to consult with the orthopedic doctor and we got some xrays.  The xrays weren't conclusive, but he suggested we put her in a boot to allow the foot to heal.  She looked dang cute in her tiny boot and rocked it!  She was such a good sport about it and never complained.

See how the left foot is swollen and puffy?
Beginnng of the brusing

She didn't slow down one bit and just kept dancing away!

She is always dancing when she hears music.

Even when everyone is watching (but she doesn't realize it) she is moving!

The WAV

We spent a lot of time at the WAV this summer since we got a family pass. We definitely got our money out of it! The kids seemed to really enjoy it and made great strides through the summer. Bentley got brave and became a much better swimmer. Kyler, Damon and Radley tried to dominate the red slide by going as far as they could and hoping to cross rope. Radley dominated the high dive and rock climbing wall. Mackenzie learned how to dive for toys and learned how to swim!! All of us ended up a few shades darker too!

Lots of diving board tricks from Radley

Radley did make it over a couple times, but I never seemed to catch them on camera. I love how he hits the water!

There weren't any tricks from Bentley, but she was brave enough to go off the high dive several times.

She went down the 'scary' slide too, only twice because she says she doesn't like it, but she did it!

Look at that huge splash from Damon!!

Damon figured out the slide thing. He was able to consistently make it past the rope!

Kenney wasn't able to go with us too many times, but he was able to figure out the slide too!

Jumping in sync

Flipping like it's nothing!

Kyler never could quite figure out the slide.  He was able to get it one or two times, but I never recorded it.  Damon could never get the nerve to try a flip on the diving board, so I guess this evens them out.

This is how she gained the confidence to swim; she realized she could dive for toys.  She also got stuck in the deep end of the pool when she fractured her foot and couldn't put weight on it to play in the little kid area.

She really did teach herself to swim.  I knew she could do it, but she needed to realize it.  Once she gained a little confidence she took off!

Radley rock climbing is a sight to see!  He's really impressive, and Bentley was brave to get to the top too!

Radley flipped all kinds of ways!

Thailand Day

Our summer adventures took us to Thailand next.  We learned about the history and how Thailand is translated at "land of the free" because it has never been colonized.  We had some tea made by Papa Dude made from cinnamon, clove, star anise, and cardamon.  We talked about elephants, beaches, temples, tuk tuks, and more.  Dinner consisted of shrimp and tofu pad Thai and dessert was coconut sticky rice with mango and coconut custard.  I was hoping to watch The Rescue with them about the soccer team that was recused, but Kyler and Damon had to go mow, so the little ones watched Raya the Last Dragon.

He brought the spices he used in the tea to show the kids.
So yummy!
They all liked it!
Pad Thai, I needed a different recipe because I've tasted much better pad Tahi, but no one complained.
The coconut custard looks gross, but this was all so so good!
The girls listened to Thai music and watched Thai dancers as they colored these pictures.

Couldn't help but make a slow motion video of the cream.  It was the best part after all!
