Our Travels to England

We were thinking about what country to do next when Kenney mentioned England.  We thought it would be perfect for Kenney to talk about his time there and the culture.  I knew Bentley would have a blast if we did a tea party for her, so I borrowed a tea set and invited some of her friends over.  All the girls dressed up and brought at doll so they could do a tea party for them too.  The girls had a blast and thought they were so fancy!

I didn't have many activities for the boys because I was busy with the tea party and dinner, but we listened to some Beatles music.  Kenney then introduced them to more British artists.  We watch some videos about talking with a British accent.  Kyler caught on a little better than Damon, haha!

Kenney has been talking about doing an English Sunday Roast Dinner for a long time, but we've never done it.  This was the perfect opportunity.  It took some research and planning, but we got it done.  I made the roast first with onions and carrots.  Then we made the roasted potatoes and gravy.  Finally we made Yorkshire pudding.  Those turned out pretty amazing.  We invited Nana & Papa to come over for dinner with Kaden.  The table was set and we served dinner the English way, no serving yourself or serving dishes on the table.  We brought out everyone's plate to them and that's all you get!  It wasn't my favorite dinner, but Kenney said it was very authentic, very much like he would get on his mission.  Through dinner Kenney talked about England and some of their customs.  He should pictures and told stories.  It was great!

After dinner I had an apple crisp and custard ready.  It was pretty good too.  Most of us seemed to like the food.  We finished the night with the movie The Man Who Knew Too Little.  I'm really bummed I didn't get a picture of the dinner or dessert, but I did get one of the show-stopper as Kenney called it.  The Yorkshire Puddings!

Ready for tea!

All dressed up, you can't see it here, but Bentley made me curl her hair for the occasion.

The proper way to drink your tea!

Serving their dolls tea too

Dinner is served!  If you look close you can see the dinner.

Yorkshire pudding (pronounced Yorksure pudding)  They taste nothing like pudding and are kind of like a roll, but not really bread.

The tea (aka apple juice) was a hit, as were the shortbread cookies and pb&j sandwiches!

Recent Events

Kenney got a call to help some people remove a beehive that was inside the wall on a second story house with no AC.  Of course he couldn't tell the elderly man no, so he spent most of a Saturday morning/afternoon helping out.  It was a huge mess, but he did it!!

The boys taught Mackenzie how to do face filters.

Staying out of the rain watching the others play.  Wouldn't want to mess up that pretty lipstick, haha!

I'm not sure she's ever played in the rain.  We haven't gotten much of it since she's been mobile.

We finally got dressed up (kinda) to go to a baptism.  I loved this dress when Bentley wore it and wanted some pictures of Mackenzie in it too.

Yep, she knows how to twirl!

Couldn't get pictures of just Mackenzie

Then Damon wanted in on it.

Then it was decided I needed on of them all.

There wasn't much to play in, but Mackenzie loved it!

She was a little more hesitant with a slippery trampoline.

Everyone tries to get in on it when Papa plays!

This was hilarious because she thought she was really spraying Kenney even though the bottle was spraying the opposite direction!

Bentley is super close to swimming without any floaties.  She is also finally jumping off the diving board.  She wasn't doing anything close to that at the beginning of the summer!

USS Alabama

On our drive home we stopped at the USS Alabama to eat lunch and walk around.  We saw all kinds of military vehicles.  It was hot, but it was a nice break from the car and the only 'play place' available with COVID restrictions.

We refused to pay the $15/per person admission to walk outside and wear a mask to get on board, but it was cool walking out on the pier!

Not the coolest of conditions, but it was nice to get out of the car and see something.

Holding up the ship!

He was not about to out done by Kyler.

She's so tough!

Hey look, we were there too!

They are getting better with pictures, but the angles are not so good.

The kids all picked different military equipment to take a picture next to, except Bentley she was too hot!

She wanted her picture by a tank too!

Look I can touch it!

He had to touch it too!

Crazy Girl!!

They wanted a picture with all the jets.  Yeah, you can hardly see them.

Damon wanted to see the Korean War Memorial after I told him my granddaddy fought in that war.

The Korean War Memorial

Kenney was showing Damon how to get the seagulls to eat out of your hand while Mackenzie was just fascinated that birds were that close to her!

He was nervous, but Damon did it!

Kyler fed them too, but the others weren't interested.

She got really mad at me when I was trying to video her throwing a fit about being hot!!
