Last Week's Completed Project

My remodeling skills are pretty basic and primitive.  Kenney is much more equipped in that area than I am, but I can paint!!  Poor Kenney has not been able to see much progress in any of the rooms he has been working on, so I tried to at least make him feel like we were getting somewhere!  With the help of some friends and family watching my boys and some late nights, I was able to get the room painted in about 3 days.  The boys were not really cooperative during nap-times of course, but it is done!

BEFORE
I almost forgot to take pictures.  I had already started priming the room before I remembered, but you can definitely get the picture of how ugly it was.

Do you like our blanket door?

Gotta love the rainbow tiles!!

Really, they painted the door too?

I just keep telling everyone, I may not be a professional, but I cannot make it look any worse!
 AFTER

Sorry I didn't have the energy to move all the stuff in the middle of the room

It's not amazing, but it sure looks better than before!

Oh yeah the boys are here too!
Sometime these boys actually play together, and I love it!!
He ruined big brother's fun!

Random Stuff

Life has been pretty chaotic around here; this post is much the same. We have been trying to finish the house, start packing, make decisions about funding for school, and continue our 'normal' responsibilities. Damon is now completely mobile. He crawls anywhere he wants to go, which usually involves following me around. His front teeth are almost all the way in, and he never stops moving, even in his sleep. Kyler is becoming quite the little talker, finally! He repeats just about everything he wants.

Can you believe he's 8 months old?!?

It's so nice that he will play with just about anything. Of course anything he can find that is not an actual toy is always the most fun!

One day Kyler had a friend over, and they were playing Superman. It was really cute watching them run around with capes. Sorry I didn't get better pictures, but Damon wanted to play with the camera himself.

Through the winter and into March we went to a few of Keyan's (Kenney's brother) basketball games. Kyler enjoyed watching the boys shoot the ball and run fast, but mostly, he liked to run around on the court himself after the game! He looks kinda scared in this picture but he LOVES basketball.

We were able to go to the regional basketball tournament in Midland to watch Keyan play. Damon had enough basketball by this point. But it was fun to support Keyan. It was also weird because Keyan's team played Jim Ned, and I played them all the time in high school. I also played a volleyball tournament in college at the same place of the basketball tournament.

Although they did not win the game, it was nice to see that the teams came together at the end of the game to pray. I'm afraid by the time our boys play this won't be happening anymore.

So I expected my boys to play when we put them in the same room, but I did not quite expect it this early. Kenney and I caught them playing the other day when they were supposed to be going down for naps. It was funny even though I wanted them to be sleeping. I'm really happy they will play with one another now. The video cuts off in the end because my memory card ran out of memory. Sorry.

My parents wanted to hear and see Kyler talking. He pretty much just copies everything we say, but at least he says something!

This is just more talking. He loves his animal books!

Exterior Makeover

Can I tell you that paint is AMAZING!! I never knew paint could do so much! Well, paint and hard work by Kenney. I don't think I have ever posted pictures of the outside of our house before. I think I was embarrassed of the house when we first bought it. I knew we could make it look better, but we literally bought 2 houses that were connected. Before we painted it, it completely looked like 2 different houses. Now it's not quite as noticeable, but really we can't hide the fact that it is not one cohesive home. Kenney hand painted the first house and it took weeks! It looked great, but we knew there had to be a better way. Last week, Kenney borrowed a sprayer for the other house. He painted the entire thing in about 2 hours with the help of a friend. Then we painted the green trim to finish it. Kenney also works really hard to make sure our yard looks nice. Our house was a wreck when we bought it, but now it looks like a nice presentable home!

BEFORE

This is the side of the house we live in

This is the 'other' house

This is the back of the side we live in

The yard was ridiculous when we bought it. It took Kenney and our very kind Brother-in-law a couple hours to mow it with 2 mowers going.

AFTER

This is the halfway point. Kenney finished the bigger house in 2010. The room that connects the houses (seen on the left) was not yet painted.

Overall, Kenney has done an incredible job making our house look great. I can offically say that I am no longer embarrassed about our house.

Easter

Happy Easter, a day late!! I think Easter is becoming one of my favorite holidays. I love the weather, the fun, family, and being able to celebrate that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ lives. Kyler loves the holiday too. Anything that involves candy and Kyler is in 100%

Ready for church in their Easter ties!

I love this boy!!

After eating together, we had a huge Easter egg hunt. There were over 300 eggs! I think each kid got at least 15-20 eggs. We had quite a crowd!!

Damon was there too!! No hunting eggs this year, but he had fun watching everyone

His bucket was so full he couldn't fit anything else in there!

He couldn't wait to get inside to eat the candy; he had to eat it right away! Of course he had to pick the egg with creamy Cadbury chocolate which melted all over his hands!

The fun didn't end after the Easter egg hunt, we had a party for all the birthdays within the last week too! Kenney's brother Kevin, his dad, and his brother Keyan all had birthdays within 6 days! Keyan was even born on the same day as Kenney!

Kyler didn't really need to be told how to hunt eggs. He picked it up pretty quick this year.

Damon has finally decided life is much better when you can move! He has been able to crawl for about a month now, but he just recently decided it was worth the effort. To be honest, I am glad it took him longer; it was nice that he stayed put!

Here are a few of the things happening around our house in between all of the remodeling. We have been hanging Sheetrock, painting houses, mudding, etc. Kenney has been doing most of the work, but when the boys are sleeping or someone can watch them I have been able to help as much as possible. Pictures to come soon! Needless to say our lives are a little crazy right now, but here are a few of the moments we have been able to capture.

Who says this boy is too skinny? He looks healthy and happy to us!

He sure is more chunky than Kyler

Sometimes at night we tell Kyler to close his eyes to go to sleep. This is the face he gives us!

Kyler got some bubbles for his birthday and LOVED them. He used the entire bottle in one day, mostly because he dumped them out when I wasn't looking, but he had fun.

I promise he was not trying to eat the bubbles!

I'm not sure what made Kyler so tired this day, but he was pretty funny that night. He was sleeping so heavy.

Damon sleeps pretty good at night now, as long as he can reach a passifier. I always make sure there are plenty in his reach. I guess we have gone a little overboard!

One day I was doing to the dishes and became extremely suspicious because it was very quiet. This is how I found Damon. He was eating Kyler's cinnamon graham cracker and LOVIN' it! He was chowin' down!!
