Quarantine Activities

It feels like we haven't done anything lately, but at the same time, it seems like we've done a lot. Kenney's actually been pretty busy lately. He's been building a playset, planting a garden, growing grass, playing with the kids, fixing up the rent house, and so much more. The poor guy is definitely not getting a break during this whole quarantine thing. He even took a day off work to help get the playset built. We knew our trip to Hawaii would be cancelled and we would be stuck at home quite a bit, so we ordered the playset. They have LOVED it. I knew Radley, Bentley, and Mackenzie would like it, but I have been very surprised at how much the other two boys have played on it. It's been great with the mild weather we've been having. We've been spending a lot of time outside and made several trips to pick up school lunches on bikes/in the stroller. We've also spent almost every weekend at Kevin and Kerry's house because Kenney has been working on the rent house and I need to got to the store. The kids have loved it and always find things to do.

This little girl has been very blessed with brothers that are always willing to help her!

Jumping from the swings.
He looks so long and skinny!!  I know he always looks that way, but this picture really highlights it.
A little less Stretch Armstrong-ish!
Radley taking a leap.
I know when 5 kids are home all day we have messes everywhere, but I feel like it is so much worse these days!  Mackenzie's age doesn't help, but when I'm helping the boys with school there are always messes everywhere!
And everyday the cushions are used to build some kind of bed/fort/landing platform/etc.  This was Kyler's throne one day.
I've been doing an inventory of our food and storage products.  This is Mackenzie's way of helping me.  She was either doing this or spreading the products everywhere!
We were late to the game, but this is our sidewalk chalk art that many people have been doing.
Working hard.
Ready to pull off the tape.
Finished product!  They loved how it turned out.
Radley was reading a book about drawing and how often it begins with lines and dots.  He had to do a drawing with dots and one with lines.  This is his line inspired art.  I bet you can't figure out his inspiration??
This girl loves all dogs now.  She is lucky she has been around patient dogs because she is not very soft!  She hits them repeatedly.
Kerry and I snuck away for a few hours to go to Sam's and to GET AWAY, but we stopped at Chick-fil-a for dinner.  I was trying to get a picture of the ridiculous way they were handing us food.  They put the food bags (which several different people touched) in a plastic tub and reached that across the window, rather than just handing the bags directly to us.  I was so confused!!  I completely missed the point they were hoping to accomplish by doing this??  Anyway, it was so odd.  Happy COVID-19 memories!
But these 2 mommas got a break and some food we didn't have to cook!!
They made some 'seats' or 'chairs' in the sandbox.
Right after this they got our squirt guns and got soaked!  They were no longer sandy; they were muddy!!  So fun, for them not us!
The kids really liked inspecting all the fish that Papa, Kevin, Conner, and Jace brought back from their fishing trip.
I think these boys are ready to fish!!
I was shocked Bentley picked one up too!  Look at that smile; she was really proud of herself.
They caught some pretty big fish.  Our boys didn't try and hold the 26lb one they caught on a jug line, but it was HUGE!!
This past Sunday Kenney made this stand to help encourage our kids to be more excited to participate in church.  We're hoping it works!

They got really excited when we took off the tape!

April Snow Shower?!?

Yep!  We got snow in April.  We usually get at least one good snow storm every year, but this year we haven't had one, until this morning.  It was pretty good snow, but didn't last very long.  I didn't want the kids to go play because I knew it would be a mess, but I let them because we don't get snow often enough around here.  Kyler choose to forgo the snow, but the others had fun!

Pretty sure the snowman was half grass half snow!
Every time it snows I get a piccture of Damon eating the snow, not because I'm asking for it but because he is ALWAYS eating it!!
Bentley does the same thing.
It was melting fast!!
They have quite the personalities!
Kicking a snowball
Both still eating it.
Bellyflop on the snow (don't worry he was on the trampoline)
Kicking snow
Posing with their originally named snowman, Olaf!  Radley was proud of his hard work, haha!

Lipstick has become an permeant fixture on her face.
Our poor playhouse has been subject to rain, wind, snow, hail, and heat!
They ended the night with a movie and sleeping in the living room.  Radley ended up with the majority of the cushions.
I honestly didn't think this would go well.  I never thought they would go to sleep, but I was pleasantly surprised.  They went right to sleep and didn't bother me all night long.  Damon was thrilled to sleep with Acey (or so he thought, Acey was put outside in her doghouse, but it made Damon think she slept with him).

They always have so much fun in the snow. It's almost worth the mess and laundry they made.

They were making it 'rain snow'!!

Easter 2020, Unlike Any Other

Going with the theme of 2020, Easter will be a holiday that would be unique! There was only one egg hunt, and I believe it was the first Easter Sunday any of us were not at church, at least in the traditional sense. We has a small family gathering at Kevin and Kerry's house on Saturday before Easter and did an egg hunt for the kids, with a semi-traditional dinner to follow. Sunday was a little different than our typical at home church because I made the kids get dressed up. I told them this Sunday was different than all the rest and we should treat it that way. Radley asked why he had to get dressed up, and I told him, "If Jesus died for you, surely you can dress nice for him." I didn't have anymore questions after that!! It was a quiet and nice day being together. I even got a nap! I know that hasn't happened on an Easter Sunday for a while!

A small family gathering still consists of 11 kids, haha!
Our bunch
All ready to go
I thought the egg hunting would be a piece of cake for this girl, but she got distracted early on by one open egg.
She walked right up to an egg that was open.  She found the candy and would not let it go!  She kept that piece in her hand forever and wouldn't pick up anymore eggs!  She just wanted the candy opened.
The one open egg in that entire circle.
She was a little confused about why we wanted her to pick up the eggs.
We had plenty of space to do a 'social distancing' egg hunt!!
Trying to find the $$ eggs/
These two are always glued to one another.
Kyler looking through his eggs.
He found $3!!  Bentley did too, but Radley didn't find any.  She walked up to him and gave him one of her dollars.  It was really sweet!
I told the kids I wanted one good picture for Easter.  I got what I wanted!!
Radley gave a really good talk about Jesus Christ being crucified.
Kyler wrote a talk about resurrection.  He did really well.  (Damon and Bentley did not cooperate and choose not to participate)
The kids got a package from my Aunt DeeAnne.  They were super excited!

These kids took off quick!! I was impressed how fast they got down the yard!

Mackenzie finally started to get some momentum, but she was still pretty clueless.

She was pretty cute to watch!
