Happy Halloween!!

I think I had a lot more fun than Kyler did this Halloween. I loved getting him all dressed up in his costumes and showing off my cute baby!! On Wednesday night we went to a church Halloween party. Our family dressed up as thugs and wore super baggy clothes. Brock, our brother-in-law, let us borrow some of his stuff. I even wore pants that were too big for him; they were a size 40 waist!! We had a good time seeing everyone else dress up too.

Saturday we dressed Kyler up in his giraffe costume and went downtown to get some candy. We didn't actually take him around because there were a lot of people and candy was running short, and let's face it, was Kyler really going to eat the candy?? We went to Kenney's Nanny and Papa's and then went to his parent's house a little later. Kyler didn't quite understand the costumes, but he was a super good sport!

Halloween day we just had fun with family and hung around the house. Kyler is learning how to pull up on things and walk around. He hasn't quite grasped how to let go and sit down. He gets really scared and does not want to let go. He makes some funny sounds, faces and poses while avoiding the inevitable fall to the ground!!

Home Sweet Home

Kyler very comfortable in our new home
(I went in to get him one morning, and this is how I found him. I thought it was so cute.)
I have finally started to post pictures of our house!! Yea for me! We have spent a lot of work and time trying to get this house somewhat presentable. We have painted almost every square inch!! Before we moved in, we painted most of the house and did most of the flooring. We had a lot of help from Kenney's family too. It was a great effort on everyone's behalf! Thanks for all the help!!
The living room was completely made over from ceiling to floor. We removed extremely nasty and stained carpet and put in new flooring and painted everything. The furniture was all given to us. I think in total we spent not quite $500 on the living room. The bathroom had carpet in half of it, ugly paint colors, and was very dirty. I think we spent maybe $100 on that room. Kyler's room/Guest room pretty much only got a paint job. I have posted before and after pictures so don't be frightened by the before pictures. I also have only posted 3 rooms. The others are coming.

Living Room Before
Notice the ugly paneling. It was very dark in this room.

3 layers of wallpaper were fun to remove!! There were at least 1 corner shelf in every corner with wire coming from everywhere and over 100 holes to caulk in the walls.

After

Besides the decorative items, the rug, and the DVDs, everything was given to us. We really appreciate all the efforts made to furnish the house.

We love love love our tall ceilings. I think it is my favorite part of the house.

Bathroom Before

Too bad we had to get rid of our lovely ocean view!

The toilet seat had to go too!! I didn't get a picture of the carpet, but from the cabinet to the back wall there was carpet. The window above the toilet had seashells and rocks glued to it. We haven't quite remove those yet.

After

I actually thought the purple was going to be a little darker, but it works! The floor is 100 times better! We still need to get new hardware, but that is coming.

Indoor light fixtures would be nice also. We'll get some eventually.

Kyler's Room Before

The walls were nicely sponge painted and this awful brown color. The ceiling was blue.

He has the best lighting in the house!

After

We have put the guest bed in his room for now. I was trying to go for a beach theme in his room, but we could not find the kind of fabric we really wanted. My mom and I settled for the red fabric with palm trees, cars and surf boards. I wanted something like the material hanging from his crib. Oh well, this is cute too!!

His walls are actually striped. You can't see them very well because of our camera, but there are stripes of the same color: one stripe is high gloss paint and the other is flat. I love it!! You have to be here to appreciate it.

Haircut #2

Kyler has been needing a haircut for quite some time now. My Aunt Debbie gave him his first haircut in July, but it seems to grow pretty fast. He continually gets called a girl no matter what I have him dressed in. Someone called him a girl that day while he was in his blue tiger outfit. So, we thought a haircut might help his masculinity.

Kenney's nanny was a beautician for over 30 years and gave us some much needed help in the haircutting department. Kyler did pretty well, as well as you can expect from a 7 month old! He definitely looks like a boy now.

We distracted him with lipstick. (Don't worry Aunt DeeAnne we gave him the good stuff, it's MaryKay)

All smiles. He didn't cry once!

A Saturday with the Keys

We usually try and get as much done as possible on Saturdays, especially since we don't know how much longer we will have good weather. This weekend we started off with garage sales and errands. While Kyler took a nap, I started prepping the outside of the house to paint it. Kyler has a had a really hard time lately and been super super fussy so he needed to get out. We decided to go to the park. He loves being outside and was not extremely happy at first, but at least he wasn't crying!! The ducks were not that interested in us or our bread, so Kenney tried to get some attention from the fish. That was a bust too! Needless to say, we just laid on our blanket and enjoyed being outside while Kyler cheered up!

Kyler trying to decide if he wants to be happy or not

Getting a little more excited about being at the park

Yeah!! He's smiling. Did I mention that he is now pulling up on things?

After the park, we went back to the house. I made some cookies for Sunday dinner and tried to entertain Kyler. I made Mint Milano Cookies (one of my dad's favorites). I'll have to make some for you sometime, Dad. Kenney fixed another lawn mower. We decided that if all else fails, Kenney can become a lawn mower repair guy!! I don't have pictures of the riding lawn mower, but it's running too. We also watched some football. Texas won, finally and Ohio State lost. It was a good day!

On the Move

He is up and going, well kind of. Kyler has decided that he wants to crawl, but has not quite figured out how to use his arms. He is a good army crawler when he really wants something you put in front of him. Lucky for me he is not completely mobile. He doesn't crawl from room to room, yet.

We took him to the doctor a couple weeks ago and found out that in the last two months he only gained 1 pound!! He's only in the 11th percentile for weight. Before you turn me in to CPS, the doctor said there is nothing to worry about. He's just an active little boy. I guess she noticed how much he moved while we were in her office! Now he has to eat at least 5-6 times per day, not including nursing. He eats breakfast, a snack, lunch, a snack, dinner, and another snack before bed. Kenney thinks he's finally gaining weight, but I think he is too active and has a metabolism like his daddy.

Oma, my mom, came for a visit too. For some reason we never remember to take pictures while she is here, but we had a great time. Kyler was spoiled rotten the entire time. We got to eat some good food, make really cute curtains, go shopping, visit my nanny, drink Diet Coke (yes, she gave Kyler his first taste of Diet Coke and Red Vines), and just relax around the house. She brought us lot of new things too (2 dressers, bed frame, TV, blower, weed-eater, 100ft extension cord, 2 drills, 2 saws, a huge bucket of nails, legos, books, lots of Kyler clothes, and food). Yes, she spoils all of us. Did I mention that we love her going to all these auctions?

Kyler loves when Daddy comes home

He loves being outside and watches every car that drives by
until Kenney's little pickup pulls in the driveway.
