Our Old Vehicles

I guess I didn't suck up enough pride when we decided to buy a minivan. I always said I would never drive one, but I did for 4 or 5 months until it started to have too many problems to keep. I never even thought our next vehicle would ever be an option for us to buy, but here we are with a car that has caused us many stares and other interesting stories.

Let me begin by saying that I think this car was intended for a person of a different racial background than ours. The tires that were put on the car are so small the speedometer is off by 10mph. It is so low to the ground that we cannot drive on any road without bottoming out on something. The windows are tinted so darkly that no one can see in the car (a feature I have grown to love because I am still hoping people do not recognize me). Also, there was a radio/CD player put in the car that is nicer than I have ever had and more expensive than the car (not really, but close). It even has an ipod hookup!

It is bad enough that we get stares every time we get in and out of this car in public. I am not sure if people are wondering what a younger couple with a baby are doing with the car or if they are thinking other things. But one night shortly after we got the car, it was about 10:30pm. Kenney was already asleep, and I was reading when the doorbell rang. I woke Kenney up, of course, and made him answer the door. It was the cops! They were looking for some girl and thought she was hiding/staying at our house! At this point, I was not sure if it was the car or our ugly house, but I am pretty sure it was the car (the combination sure wasn't helping us). I think the police officer was a lot less suspicious once he saw Kenney and the inside of our house.

This is the first car that I have not ever locked because I am still hoping that someone steals it! There is also another interesting fact about this car, but I don't think I want to publish it on the Internet. Overall, lets just say that because I hate this car so much I know it will last forever! Here are some pictures of our 1990 Buick LeSabre (yes it is 21 years old, made when I was in Kindergarten). Kenney does like the remind me that at least we have the title and own it outright. Really, that doesn't make me feel any better, even when I know it should!

Isn't It a Beauty?

It's always for sale so if anyone is interested please let us know!

As if the Buick was not bad enough, our other almost 20 year old vehicle was hit 2 weeks ago. We parked the car on the street for the first time because someone was coming to pick some shingles from our garage. Not even 20 minutes had passed before some high school kid came to the door saying he slid on the ice and ran into our car! Lovely! Now we are in the middle of an insurance mess and have to figure out what to do with our once, completely dependable pickup!

Ready or Not Here He Comes

Kyler is officially on his feet!! He can comfortably walk anywhere he wants and does it more and more everyday. At first he had to have both arms sticking straight up to walk and needed a ball or coins to walk to, but you had to be far enough away that he could not lean and/or lunge to you. Now he has the Heisman pose to walk. He sticks one arm straight out and the other behind his ear. Why you might ask? Yeah, we have no idea. It's Kyler. He is slowly learning to stand himself up when nothing is around him.

We thought for a little while that he was behind because his cousin, Tyce, has been walking since 9 months and is five weeks older than Kyler. I guess he's really not behind since he started walking at 10 months!! I still not sure if I am ready for a walker, but he's on the move!

The best Heisman pose we could catch

75 to Below Zero!!

Oh how I love global warming!!! We can sure feel the heat now! So our beautiful, short-lived weekend is over, and now we feel like we are in Idaho again!! Don't get me wrong I loved Idaho, just hated the winters. And now it seems they followed us. It has been freezing. Monday night, like over half the country, we had a huge winter storm hit. We have had below zero windchills and single digit temperatures for a high. We also had thunder and lightning during the storm. That never happened in Idaho. Who has thunder during a snowstorm? Only in Texas I guess.

Most of our pipes have frozen. We are down to half a sink (only the hot water works in one of our bathroom sinks). I have no water in my laundry room and my dishes are piling up. Luckily, the shower and toilet still work!! We also never lost power which is a blessing. Kyler has stayed in his pajamas for the last two days trying to stay warm, and we have a space heater blowing at all times. I have also been in sweats all day! Poor Kenney has had to get out in this weather and go to work. We are hoping by this weekend we will have running water throughout the whole house! Hope everyone else is staying warm.

Deadly Icicles

We should have taken pictures on Tuesday before all the snow
blew away with our 20mph winds!!
