The girls enjoyed going to the baseball games too. We all loved having something to do!! Bentley espeically loved it because she had a friend that was at all the boys games because her brothers were on the same teams as the boys. We hardly ever even saw her. Mackenzie however never left our side. She is not one to wander off or go anywhere Kenney and I do not go. She usually sat in the bleachers for Radley's game and then headed down to the concession stand with me for the other game. She pretty much just ate ice the entire time!!
Every game she came to the ballpark with her hands and arms full of stuff. Her purse was always packed and she always shared her things.
She's a real life monster! A cute one, but a monster still the same!
I was there too!! and Oma and Zadi. Papa Dude was too.
She manned the coolers every night!
They were always together!
Supposedly Mackenzie was telling Papa Dude, "Again! Again!" I didn't get it on video, but she really had fun with him.
She kept herself busy with the soccer ball. She was actually quite coordinated kicking it!
Kyler had a pretty rough baseball season. However, we were very proud of him because he kept trying and never gave up! Kyler can hit basically every ball Kenney pitches to him, no matter how fast or how bad the pitch might be. For some reason, when he gets in a game, he loses all his confidence and can't seem to hit anything!! He struck out so many times it was defeating, but he kept trying. Occasionally he would get walked or he would foul off a ball, but more often than not, he would strike out. It was heartbreaking to watch. He would be so disappointed every time he got up to bat.
Nana & Papa came to one of his games and noticed him struggling. Papa asked if Kenney had had a chance to work with him, but with so many games every night of the week there was simply no time for Kenney to practice with him. Papa offered to take the boys to his house that night and work with him the next day. It was great! The boys were super excited, and Nana was nice enough to let Bentley tag along too! We just had Mackenzie left at home; it was eerily quiet. The kids were able to go swimming and practice with Papa.
Finally on the last game of the season when Oma & Papa Dude were hear with Zadi, Kyler HIT THE BALL!! It was so exciting. His team was on a hitting streak, and it didn't end with him! He was so excited and so were all of us. His defense was pretty good through the season. He had a couple good catches and stops as well as a few close catches and stops. He was quick to be the relay man to get the ball from the outfield and could get the ball to homeplate faster than anyone else. Like I said with Damon it was so fun watching the boys play together and get outs together and run bases together. I hope they always enjoy playing with one another.
Kyler played second base every game and did a great job!
His posture is horrible!! He looks like an 80 year old man out there, and he's 10!!
I love seeing Kenney out there helping with the boys. They love him being on the field with them!
This is Kyler's hit, you probably need to mute the volume. I got really excited and really loud. The video isn't the best, but I was just so happy for him!
He got a couple foul balls. This one he hit really close to me right after Damon did the same thing!!
Kyler never got thrown out stealing bases, some of the other boys seemed so slow, but Kyler and Damon were never even close to being caught.
Damon had a lot of fun playing baseball this year. Even though it's a much slower sport than he usually prefers, he really enjoyed it. I think it helped that he hadn't seen many friends in a while, and he was finally able to compete again! He learned so much about how defense works in baseball and played several positions including third base, shortstop, and first base. He was a great infielder and got some outs! He loved throwing people out! He would have benefitted from more practice to learn the rules better and improve his batting, but he did great with time he had. He was never afraid to put his body in front of the ball and was aggressive to get a stop. He did great catching at third and first. He was super excited when Oma & Papa Dude and Zadi were able to come to his last game to watch. I asked Papa Dude to take some pictures for me, and I definitely got what I asked for, haha! He took a lot of pictures and got some really good shots!
It was really fun having Kyler and Damon play on the same team. A couple times one would stop the ball and throw it to the other for the out! They always encourage one another and play really well together.
Yep, it was hot!!
Guess he thought he was going to get hit in the head with that pitch!!
While the teams were in the outfield looking for the snake that some of the spectators saw (yes a snake on the field), Damon had a good little chat with the umpire.
Getting some practice swings in while he waited!
He loved running the bases
SLIDE
Phew, got there in time!
SAFE!
You can get up now!
This hit would have gone a lot further if he followed through, but he got to the base just in time! He then continued on to second without being told. He learned that the ball was still in play so he ran to second before Kenney could tell him to or stop him!
This foul ball his almost hit me while I was trying to video him!
He loved stealing bases and never got thrown out doing it.
It's not a game in Texas if snakes aren't involved. On a different night some of the boys were holding up armadillos by the tail!
He got a hit, but he got out. Plus he didn't know he couldn't slide into first base.
Radley had an awesome baseball season! He was able to hit the ball really well and fielded great! I think the coaches were too lazy to get the pitching machine out every game, so they actually coach pitched the games. It was fantastic! Radley only struck out once the entire time, and he was up to bat at least 30 times!! He had a great time playing with his friends too. He often played two games per night and never complained. He's such an easy going kid everyone loves him. He had the same coach as Kyler and Damon so that was fun for him too.
He did awesome on third base! He stopped nearly every ball that came his way and could actually throw the ball across the field.
Such a cute kid!
We got so many videos of Radley hitting the ball. I'll refrain from posting all of them, but here are some of his better hits!
When he hit the ball every time he was at bat, it made for quite the collection!
