This Crazy Girl!

Mackenzie has a wild and growing personality!  She is so funny and lovable but intense and crazy all at the same time.  Here are some videos to show a few sides to her.

This girl is crazy in her crib.  I am constantly having to move it back towards the wall because she jumps and shakes it out away from the wall.

The girl can eat!!  She loves her food and doesn't mess around at meal times.  I am in shock at how much she can fit into that tiny belly.  She has finally gotten some teeth, but she mostly just swallows the food whole.  However, she eats everything we give her so it's really nice (as long as we feed her fast enough)!

She is always jumping, in her bed, on our laps, or anywhere else she feels stable.  She can't stop moving! Here she is 'jump driving' as Bentley calls it.

Mackenzie is one intense baby!  This is the first football game she has ever been too, and she actually watched the game!  She would get excited when there were big plays and screamed like she understood what was happening.  It was like she couldn't express herself; while at the same time she didn't know what she was feeling.  It was hilarious watching her.  And I was not bouncing her; she was jumping and moving all over.  I was merely trying to keep her on my lap.  Also notice she tenses up and shakes at one point.  It was pretty funny.

One day when Mackenzie woke up from a nap, she wasn't very happy.  Radley decided to read her a book to see if it would cheer her up.  It was really cute and sweet watching him read to her.  I love when she giggles with him.

Here she is taking a few steps.  Kenney was hoping to record her walking behind the shopping cart.  Instead, she just tried to walk to him!

Firetruck Ride

The girls and I joined a home school co-op/ playgroup for a fire week demonstration in Childress. We were able to learn a few basic fire safety principles. The kids made hats, painted, played BINGO, ate pizza, and ran around. We all headed down the street to the fire station where all of us listened to the firemen and then rode on top of the firetruck. The boys were jealous, but I assured them we visited a fire station with them when they were little too. Damon said he didn't remember, but I assured him Bentley won't remember this either!!

All the cousins that don't go to school were there too.
Climbing up to the top!

Not too sure what was going on.  I had to let one of the firemen hold her while I climbed up and she didn't like that!
Poor attempt at a selfie.

All the people working in the businesses downtown walked out and waved to the kids.  It was really sweet of them.
Warming up a little bit to being on the firetruck.
Lights and sirens were going!
Lots of kids!!

Bentley had a great time and wasn't scared one bit! Mackenzie wasn't too sure at first, but she didn't seem to mind it as we went.

Spooky Decorations

I'm not really one for Halloween decorations. I just don't like the spooky stuff, but the kids love it, especially Kyler. He always has.  We have recently spaced out bedtimes a little, so it gives us some time with just Kyler at the end of the day.  I really like this time we get together and this night we made it better than normal by making these spooky concoctions.  We both had a lot of fun!

None of this stuff creeps out Kyler or Kenney.  They both like Halloween stuff.  Hopefully Kyler will become Kenney's scary movie watching buddy!  Bentley got jealous and thought she needed to make one too, so we got supplies to make one more for her.
The milk jug skeletons are hanging strong!

HONEY

Our bees are gone!!! It was a huge blow and extremely disappointing. I think the worst part is that we really don't know what happened to them, so it's hard to learn from what happened because we don't know what happened. When Kenney went to go get the honey from the hive, robber bees had already begun stealing the honey. We aren't exactly sure how much honey they had taken, but it was a significant amount. Another hit in a not so good situation. What impressed me the most was that Kenney got upset initially and was disappointed, however he didn't linger on the bad and immediately started planning on what to do for next year and how to make the best of what he had.

Although Kenney bought a flow hive so we wouldn't have to do this.  I'm actually glad we got the opportunity to do this.
It was so cool to watch the honey.
After scrapping the wax and honey we placed it into cheesecloth and put it over the strainer.
Slow drips through the strainer
Look at all that honey!!  I say, overall it was a very successful haul.

It was very satisfying to watch the honey flow from the frames. As sad as it was to lose the bees at least we got something from it!

It was also mesmerizing to see the honey drip cleanly into the bowls.

We needed to clean up the beehive frames, so I told Kenney to stick them outside and let the bees and other bugs clean them off.  It was amazing how fast and efficient they were!

School Stuff

Kyler had to build a dog-run for his reading class.
This is what Kyler, Kenney, and I came up with.  It's made of 2 sizes of popsicles, rocks, dirt, trees, and saran-wrap for windows.
Now next year we have to come up with a different plan for Damon's project.  Any suggestions or ideas on how to make this differently are welcome!!
I noticed Kyler wrote this on one of his papers for writing.  He truly believed that Papa shot the turkey we eat every year for Thanksgiving.
Radley had Johnny Appleseed Day at school.  They made 'pots' for hats at school.
He also needed to bring an apple treat.  This is what we decided.  He said they were pretty good.
