Damon Basketball

Damon had a long, successful, growing, and fun basketball season this year. Kenney was kind of forced into coaching these boys, but I think that ended up being for the better. He did a great job, but it was challenging.  He had boys that struggled to play as a team and a lot of very active boys that had a hard time focusing.  Some days he would come home from practice wondering why he was even trying with these boys!!  The season started out great with lots of wins, went through a dip in how they played, and ended with a high as they played and passed so well!  If they will all play together, this is a tough team to beat!

Damon personally grew a lot.  His speed is unmatched!  He could catch up to anyone on a fast break and stop them from getting a layup.  He naturally plays amazing defense without fouling the other team and plays great help defense.  I don't know how many passes stole, but one game he forced 6 turnovers in a row!  His dribbling got better as the season went on, and he passed the ball to anyone that was open.  It really was fun watching him play!

Getting ready to play!!
Free throws!
Bringing down the ball
Arms always out and ready to get that ball!  He moved his feet really well and hardly ever fouled anyone.  He had quick hands and feet!
How most of the time out huddles looked, no 2 kids looking the same way and Kenney only having the attention of 1 kid.
Jumping into the passing lane.  Damon had countless steals throughout the season.
Damon and the team in general got very good and seeing the open man and passing it to them.  There was a struggle in the middle of the season where a lot of the boys were only passing to their friends. It was really frustrating.
Damon getting in front to cut off the fastbreak.
Kenney promised the boys he would get them ice cream if they won the first day of the tournament making the bracket much easier for us!
Tournament Champions!!!

Damon had several good plays that I didn't get on film. It wasn't particularly easy to get video with 4 other kids to take care of, but I did my best.  He made drives like this often!

Nice shot!

Sometimes he would drive and not make the basket, but he had great moves!!

After a steal Damon always raced down the court to try and make a layup.

On a team full of attitudes and cliques, it was always fun to see how happy Damon would be when one of his teammates had a good play.
