Halloween Activities

I think I always forget how many Halloween activities there are each year.  We started with the fall festival at school.  There was downtown trick-or-treating in Childress; the movie theater had a costume contest and movie; we carved pumpkins; we had the church trunk-or-treat; then there were class parties; and finally, we went door-to-door trick-or-treating.  Phew! It was busy!!

Fall Festival

The PTO organized a fall festival for the first time in several years.  The girls and I went to the school the day before and helped to assemble and organize some of the games.  The  next day we had Stake Temple Day in Lubbock, so we raced to the temple and then raced home in time for the games to start.  It was a long hectic day but still fun.  There were games set up in all the classrooms with prizes and candy for them all.  High school kids volunteered to run the games and the kids played over and over.  The boys were able to run around with their friends and had a really great time.

Radley playing games
Kyler playing a ring toss
Damon target shooting
Not my best, but we took a turn on the hayride.
Yeah, we need to work on our selfie game!!

Damon golfing.  We need some practice

Bentley had fun playing the games too.  She was pretty shy, but she shot some baskets like her brothers.

The Ritz

Every year the movie theater in town has a costume contest and movie for the kids at Halloween.  They take can donations to get in and then they show a Halloween-ish movie after the winners are announced.  Some of their cousins came from Childress so the Keys took up  more than an entire row!  Kyler won Best Costume!!  He was excited because his friends were cheering for him.  We didn't win best group, which we definitely should have, but that's ok!

Taking up the whole row!
So many kids.

Pumpkin Carving

Kyler and Radley shared a pumpkin and did everything on their own!!
Bentley doing her own thing.
Bentley now trying to carve the pumpkin herself.
This girl and her independence/dependence drive me crazy, but I can't help but love her.
Damon cleaning out the guts!
Lighting up their bat, scary face, and cat pumpkins.
And I didn't realize until after I took the pictures that Bentley, as usual, wasn't wearing any clothes.  Oh well, it's her in her natural state.
Blurry cold picture of them outside with their freshly carved pumpkins.
He was so proud!

The kids were excited about carving pumpkins. They did a lot of it on their own this year which was fun to see.

All of them in the kitchen is a crazy time!!

The kids also painted pumpkins for the library.  They had to paint a pumpkin like their favorite character from a book.  Damon painted a dog (again, it's what he did last year), Radley painted Spiderman, and Kyler painted Mew from a Pokemon book.  Bentley also painted a pumpkin all purple, then red, then black, and a couple other colors.  She called it her rainbow pumpkin.
