SNOVID 2021

We had some extremely long-lasting bitter cold temperatures hit ALL parts of Texas.  There was one day where all the cities in Texas were colder than Alaska!!  It was crazy how far reaching the cold during this storm was.  Most of Texas was out of power, but we were blessed to be on a different power grid than most of the state.  We never lost power at all.  School was cancelled for 3 days and it felt like spring break of last year where the kids never went back to school.  It made me a little nervous, but it was nice that we didn't have to do school work during that time.  Kenney was even home a little more than usual because a lot of patients cancelled.  Kenney also talked with a guy to figure out how to power our furnace with the generator.  We bought the generator for that purpose, but when we lost power during an ice storm in October it wouldn't work.  This man showed Kenney how to make a separate plug to trick the furnace into thinking the generator is grounded.  He was able to make one and tested it out to ensure that it would work, and it does!  That was a blessing of this storm for sure.  We should never freeze without power.  We had a lot of movie nights and drank some hot chocolate.  The kids didn't go out too much because it was just too cold.  We do not have the most appropriate winter gear for that frigid of temperatures.  We had single digit highs and -20 wind chills during the day!  It was super cold.  Acey even spent the week inside with us.  She did really well and only whined one night while she was in her kennel.

This is how she was dressed the entire week!  It made me cold just to look at her!
There was some major fort building going on around here.
That's a lot of snow for Texas!
A neighbor stopped as he was driving by to help Kenney shovel our driveway.  He had a snow shovel which made the work much easier!
The kid HAS to eat snow
Acey was loving the snow!
The kids were amazed at the icicles hanging from the house.
Yep, we had to eat those too!
Even Acey ate the snow!
Acey found a nice pillow on my leg while we were laying in the sun.
The kids thought the snow drifts/piles were so cool.  I forget they have never really seen a true winter.  Driving them to school on Friday was fun because it was like a whole new world for them.  They thought everything was so cool.
We had to climb on top of every pile downtown!

The weirdo was licking the hot pads at Nana's while we were waiting for dinner to be done.

Damon love sliding, but the snow made it extra fun!

They really thought these snow drifts were super cool!

Radley tried to cannonball into the snow pile
