Talent Show

Kyler and Damon both decided to sign up for the school talent show.  Kyler immediately thought he should solve his Rubik's cube.  We thought it would be fun if they showed a timer with a countdown the audience could see.  He also added some drama by blindfolding himself in the beginning and mixing the cube up before he solved it.  Originally he wanted to solve it in less than 60 seconds (his best time is 56 seconds), but we thought with nerves and such he should put his timer at 90 seconds to insure success.

Damon struggled to figure out what he wanted to do.  He finally decided on break dancing.  We encouraged him several times to find some music, but he never did.  So he got up and did the dance moves without music!

We were not able to attend the show because of COVID restrictions, but they steamed it live on Facebook for us to watch.  Oma, Papa Dude and Zadi all watched it live.  Kenney was even able to watch it at work with one of his patients!   I was super proud of both of these boys.  They are not the most extroverted kids so this was a stretch for them to get up there.  It was a great experience for Kyler, especially on his birthday!

They started the timer a little early, but he made it just in time!  It was so fun to watch how all the kids were cheering him on and supportive.

One of the moms that works at the school sent me this video, and I love how you can see the clock from this angle.

Here are Damon's awesome moves.  I know this was really hard for him to do because he does not like a lot of attention just on him.  I'm really proud of him!

Kyler's Birthday

Kyler is 11 and that is completely crazy!  I can't believe this is his last year in elementary school.  He has an amazing group of friends.  It's great to see that he has all different kinds of friends.  Some are into sports others are into YoGiOh or other things.  He is literally friends with everyone.  He loves basketball and still wants to play for the NBA one day.  We really love having him be part of our family!

We had a lot of boys at our house!  Kyler didn't have much planned, but they loved hanging out with one another.  Funnily enough they spent about 20-30 mins all taking turns trying to touch the chain hanging from the vents in our living room!!

Kyler and his friend Lawson used my phone one day to take pictures of themselves.  Here are some of the picture they took.

Radley's Basketball

Radley got a lot of practice and experience this year. He was able to play on 2 different teams. He played with kids his own age on the 2nd grade team, and he was asked to play on the 3rd grade team which was the team he played on last year. Radley was the best ball handler on both teams so he got a lot of playing time. The 2nd grade team made huge improvements as the season progressed. It was obvious Radley was the only one with any experience, but that team has a lot of potential. His best friends and his cousin Asher were on the team too which made it that much more fun!

Playing with the 3rd grade team was hard.  The team really struggled, and it didn't help that they were playing the same teams as Damon.  Radley played his little heart out every game, but it was tough playing against such older kids.  However Radley is used to playing with the big boys so he took it really well!  His friend Ben and cousin Asher also helped that team out.  They all played really hard, but it was hard to watch because they got beat so bad.  Radley was usually the only one that would score any points.

Scoring against the big boys!

Getting the ball back!

Dribbling fast!

Trying to draw that foul!

In the older division they had to shoot free throws from the regulation line.  Radley did pretty good!

SNOVID 2021

We had some extremely long-lasting bitter cold temperatures hit ALL parts of Texas.  There was one day where all the cities in Texas were colder than Alaska!!  It was crazy how far reaching the cold during this storm was.  Most of Texas was out of power, but we were blessed to be on a different power grid than most of the state.  We never lost power at all.  School was cancelled for 3 days and it felt like spring break of last year where the kids never went back to school.  It made me a little nervous, but it was nice that we didn't have to do school work during that time.  Kenney was even home a little more than usual because a lot of patients cancelled.  Kenney also talked with a guy to figure out how to power our furnace with the generator.  We bought the generator for that purpose, but when we lost power during an ice storm in October it wouldn't work.  This man showed Kenney how to make a separate plug to trick the furnace into thinking the generator is grounded.  He was able to make one and tested it out to ensure that it would work, and it does!  That was a blessing of this storm for sure.  We should never freeze without power.  We had a lot of movie nights and drank some hot chocolate.  The kids didn't go out too much because it was just too cold.  We do not have the most appropriate winter gear for that frigid of temperatures.  We had single digit highs and -20 wind chills during the day!  It was super cold.  Acey even spent the week inside with us.  She did really well and only whined one night while she was in her kennel.

This is how she was dressed the entire week!  It made me cold just to look at her!
There was some major fort building going on around here.
That's a lot of snow for Texas!
A neighbor stopped as he was driving by to help Kenney shovel our driveway.  He had a snow shovel which made the work much easier!
The kid HAS to eat snow
Acey was loving the snow!
The kids were amazed at the icicles hanging from the house.
Yep, we had to eat those too!
Even Acey ate the snow!
Acey found a nice pillow on my leg while we were laying in the sun.
The kids thought the snow drifts/piles were so cool.  I forget they have never really seen a true winter.  Driving them to school on Friday was fun because it was like a whole new world for them.  They thought everything was so cool.
We had to climb on top of every pile downtown!

The weirdo was licking the hot pads at Nana's while we were waiting for dinner to be done.

Damon love sliding, but the snow made it extra fun!

They really thought these snow drifts were super cool!

Radley tried to cannonball into the snow pile

Random Stuff

Damon slipped on a pillow while all the boys were playing in the house and ended up chipping his two front teeth.  This is our third kid to do damage to their front teeth!  I done with the mouth injuries.
Sara and Robbie had some sympathy for Damon.  They sent him a cool Cowboys light when they saw what happened.  They sent Mackenzie a toy too when she had to get her tooth pulled, so thoughtful of them!
Bentley was picking out a new fingernail polish at Walmart one day and handed a bottle to Mackenzie.  I didn't know she did that until Mackenzie started crying because she opened the bottle and got it EVERYWHERE!  The only
Someone has discovered lipstick like her big sister.  She needs a little more practice don't you think??
A Scooby Doo cake I made for Bentley's best friend.  It was fun!

Mackenzie is LOUD.  Here is just one more sound she can make.

This is is finally starting to talk on her own, but she still struggles.  She knows all of her siblings by name, but she can't say them.  She mostly calls all the boys "Kywee"  They love it, NOT!!
