Bentley's Basketball

Bentley finished her 2nd season of basketball.  Her team was much more focused on fundamentals than many of the other teams she played.  They would not double dribble or walk nearly as much as other teams, but the refs did not seem to care about calling the walks and double dribbling as they should have.  Their team had much more success this year than last year, but they are growing.  Hopefully, it will continue to keep getting better.

Watch how she point the direction of their basket, hahaha!

There were many plays like this and Bentley was always fast enough to catch up to the girl with the ball.

I love Bentley's idea of what she thinks a screen is!!

So close!!

#7 was the only girl who knew how to play on the other team. Her and Bentley went back and forth several times, but she was way more aggressive than Bentley.

She won most of the tips this year!

Such a good pass!

She just stopped in the middle of the game to tie her shoe!!

She had several made shots throughout the season too!

Such a nice follow through.

Kyler's Knee

On the Friday before Kyler's first basketball game, he was running sprints in practice.  He planted really hard and turned to go back to go the other direction and his kneecap dislocated.  He saw the kneecap go out and go right back in.  Kenney was able to grab a knee-immobilizer from the hospital.  The following Monday, after getting fitted for braces in Amarillo, Dr. Souder squeezed us into his schedule and confirmed he did in fact dislocate his kneecap.  Kyler then had to get his knee drained because there was so much swelling.  The swelling was a irritant to the knee joint and would make recovery slower.  It was more painful than the doctor told us it would be, but he was also surprised just how much fluid was in there.  103mL were drained from the knee.  He had me open another syringe to finish getting it all out.  He will be out of athletics for 6-8 weeks.

Kyler handled all of this so well.  He has held his head high and kept a great attitude!  Kenney know exactly how it feels to be injured and left behind. We are hopeful that he'll be able to return for at least part of the basketball season.  Here's to quick healing and being grateful we have a PT in the house!!

He was on crutches for about 2 weeks, but he was able to get around pretty well.

Early November

Life just keeps happening at warp speed!  Here are a few things that happened in the beginning of November.

Mackenzie's class ready for the turkey day lunch
Me & the girls eating lunch together.
The lone BYU fan at the elementary school.
For about 2 weeks straight Mackenzie was having bloody nose episodes.  She woke up one morning covered in blood.  I figured out what it was pretty quick, but it threw me off for a second.
Her bedding look pretty rough!
The prettiest tree in town!
I drove the kids by it, but they weren't impressed. I guess that means I'm getting old.
Kenney finished all the white trim.
More pretty fall colors.
The newest member of the Keys family.  Keyan and Kelli got a call about a baby and went to pick him up about 2 weeks after he was born.  It shocked all of us!
Jamar is now just a part of the crew!  He and Jaylen are 7 months apart, yikes!!  Their family has changed so much this year!
He's pretty sweet when he's sleeping, but he reminds us a lot of Damon.  His cries are angry, something is wrong type of cries.  It's so sad to hear.
Kenney made some major progress on the house paiting!
Just reading some books in a laundry basket!

Kyler was able to play the quads in the junior high pep rally and did awesome!

This happens all too often, but sometimes it's pretty funny!

Kyler was told that he would not be playing in the Veteran's Day assembly because there was only one snare drum part. However the day before the assembly, he was told the kid that was going to play failed and would not be able to attend. He had to step up last minute, without much practice and play. He wasn't able to hid behind any other drummers either; it was just him. He did awesome!!

Kyler End of Football

Kyler had a great 8th grade football season. He played amazing defense and got several interceptions. He was so much more aggressive and looking to make a play.  His blocking improved and never missed an assignment. He seemed to actually enjoy playing too! Offensively he had as many good plays as they gave him the opportunity for. He caught all but 2 passes they threw to him. It was fun seeing him have success and get closer to reaching his potential.  It was nice seeing his team realize that he is an asset.

Touchdown catch!
They went undefeated this year!!

Last junior high pep rally singing the school song.

Kyler got this interception while we were gone, so we were really happy someone captured it for us!

We all thought this was just a 2pt conversion because he didn't react very much. However, it was a touchdown catch!!

He made the stop!!

Almost a pick 6!!! But he got tackled and fumbled at the end.

What a way to start his last junior high football game!!

Damon End of Football

Damon had a frustrating football season, but he was extremely successful in every way the team allowed him to be. He rarely played on offense and did great on defense. At one point one of his teammates kept getting beat because he couldn't keep up with the guy he was guarding, so he told Damon to go in for him. Damon knew exactly how to play the guy and was able to keep up with him.  We were proud of the good attitude and resilience he showed throughout a frustrating experience.  He loved getting to play the game for real, and he can only get better from here on out!

#5 is my favorite!!
These boys only lost 1 game this season, and it was against a bigger school and a team they had already beat.  It was close both times and each team came away with one win each.

Watch the kid on the line #51 and see what he does. It's hilarious!! He literally runs away from the play! It's the best video we got this season!!

This was a tough play in a really close game. Damon had great position on the kid he just wasn't big enough. He was really hard on himself and almost kept his head down, but he ended up pulling it together and was able to make a difference in the end.

This is after he was able to pull it together and play some more defense. He felt good about that play!

I love watching the excitement and passion that Damon plays with. He gets excited and happy for whoever has a good play and loves to show that emotion. It's amazing to watch! This is at the end of that really tough close game. I loved watching him celebrate!

This was the second time they played this team. Kenney wanted to go this game because he was at Kyler game the first time they played this team. Damon was so close to getting an interception! You can hear the excitement in Kenney's voice (I think we know where Damon gets his passion, haha)!
