The Grand Canyon

We got out of town after Christmas and decided to go to Las Vegas. The kids had never been and we thought it would be worth seeing. Since the Grand Canyon was only an hour out of the way, we decided to make a pit stop on the way there. However, we were not expecting the snow and fog. We literally could not even see the world's largest canyon, haha! It was filled with fog and so sad! There was snow everywhere, and we were not prepared.

On the way home, we thought again, it's only an hour out of the way and the first time was a bust! So we tried again. We were watching the webcam to see if the fog would lift enough.  It looked clearn enough, so we took a chance. There was still snow, but we could see it!  And it was gorgeous with the snow!  I know it's a memory our kids will not forget, at least the big kids.

Attempt #1
Pretty view on the side of the road

We watched a video of what the canyon was supposed to look like, but it was definitely not like seeing it in real life.
Isn't that fog beautiful!?!

On our way out, we saw people sliding off the road.  We were happy to get out safely.

It was kind of shocking to see so many people there with nothing to see.

Lots of fog and slippery walking.

The only time you can throw something into the canyon!!

They all wanted in on the action.

Attempt #2

Look!  A canyon, a grand canyon.
It is beautiful!!
I'm not sure, until this day, that I have seen snow on the canyon like this.  It really was better than sweating like crazy.
A guy was really nice and offered to take a picture of our entire family, but we really wanted to actually see the canyon in the background.  Unfortunately, you couldn't really see where we are.
I'm glad we have another place we've visited together.
And there I am in sweatpants, haha!  I didn't have any snow appropriate clothes at that point in our trip.
The wind was a little bit chilly!!
I loved seeing the white snow against the canyon walls.

Not a bad walk!

Now that's better!

Walking around in the snow (and wind)
