Things around our house just continue to become more and more active. I have a feeling this will continue for a few more years, especially since more boys keep joining us!! However, I did not anticipate there would be so much dressing up. Growing with mostly girls around there were always dress up clothes and accessories around. I never realized boys liked to do it too, just with different stuff. We have capes, shields, belts, masks, etc rather than necklaces, crowns and gowns. Every day when Kyler is getting dressed he says, "Mom put my dress on." He gets confused between getting dressed and putting clothes on, so he says "put my dress on." Damon just fights it all together! Kyler is very into superheros these days, and all the boys take turns being different heroes. He will say, "I am Captain America; Daddy is Thor; Damon is Ironman." He then proceeds to 'hit' someone, throw a shield at them or shoot them with a web or gun. I usually get left out of this process; I guess I'm not cool enough or he he has not made the connection that there are girl superheros too.
It is much more fun to jump off the couch dressed as Batman!
"Look Mom, I fly like Batman!"
Usually there is no clothing besides underwear and capes
Someone gave us this mask, and he LOVES it!
He had to showoff his muscles.
This is the location Damon has chosen to jump off the couch. I have tried and tried to convince him that he will get hurt less if he jumps off closer to the edge, but what do I know? I am just the person that has to take him to the ER when his plans fail!!
I told them to hug and they actually did! Good thing I had the camera out!
And of course the hug turned into wrestling!
Damon always wants to continue wrestling, and Kyler is done pretty quick
Damon gets the bad guys too
I have been going through the boys stuff to try and make room for baby stuff and found these hats. The boys wanted to wear them so naturally Damon wore the hat, but no clothes.
Kyler found some gloves too!
Our boys have already become accustomed to having some sort of sporting event on our TV, but they have really gotten into watching basketball with the NCAA Tournament. They get pretty excited watching the players dribble and shoot the ball. Kyler is even picking teams now. I guess the game kind of slowed down during the part I was filming, but they were both jumping up and down and yelling at the TV. It was pretty funny!
**As a side note to this post, I get my children dressed in 'real' clothes everyday!!! For some reason I cannot get them to stay in their clothes, but they do have clothes, and they are forced to wear them in public.
Weird as it may seem, Childress has become our 'vacation' spot lately. There are several reasons for this: family, it's close, and there is SPACE for the boys to run inside and out!! I never realized how much room little boys need until we had none! The boys love going to Nana and Papa's house, and this Easter we decided it was an even better place to go because cousins would be there! Kyler and his cousin Tyce have an absolute blast together. They play every second they are awake. It is so nice how well they get along and how well they entertain each other. Damon had fun too because he got to be outside. The boys were outside for almost 3 days straight!
Kyler had such a fun time on the trampoline. He was coming up with new tricks all the time.
It is incredibly difficult to get a good picture of these kids!
Damon was finally starting to jump and play with the other kids on the trampoline this trip. He had a lot of fun too!
Believe it or not, this is not supposed to be a 'silly' face picture.
It's always fun when Papa starts to play too!
It didn't take long for Damon to start climbing on Papa and getting in on the action.
My great photography skills!! Could I have picked a worse time to snap the picture? haha
Kyler played so hard the entire time we where there and had had enough by this point! Everyone except Kyler was having fun.
The first egg hunt did not go so well for Damon. He was so interested in the candy that he forgot to pick up the eggs!!
Kyler showing off his goods!
Sweet Boy
SMILE
Playing in the dirt.
These boys were running everywhere they went.
They don't look to thrilled, but they were enjoying themseleves too.
Bucket? Easter Basket? Hat? Who knew it had so many functions?!?
The Easter Bunny left the boys some Batman action figures which they ablsolutely loved and had to show us how they fly.
By the second hunt, Damon at least picked up 6 eggs before he got too distracted
Egg hunting is serious business
He couldn't even wait until we got back inside to open the eggs!
This was round 2 of the same hunt. He was showing Daddy everything he got. The best is him trying to say chocolate!!
It was very odd to have a spring break again. Neither Kenney or I have had one since high school. We decided to use part of the week to let Kenney get some papers and projects completed for school, so he will not feel so overwhelmed once school started again. He was actually very successful in this. We then headed to Childress to celebrate Kyler's birthday and go camping with the family. For some reason we only go camping when I am pregnant! The boys had a great time playing with everyone, especially cousins!
Damon and Gentry attempting to keep up with the big kids
Damon loved being able to drive himself
Kyler wishing we had toys this cool, even if it's pink
Yeah, he thinks he's cool!
This is his smile face
We asked Kyler how he got dirt all over his face and he said that he did it. We aren't sure how it happened, but he was jumping on the trampoline looking like this!
I would like to say that this face isn't typical, but it is. It reminds me of some of the pictures of Kenney as a kid.
Kyler loved the tent. He played on and off in the tent throughout the day and was super excited to sleep in it!
Kyler woke up and walked around like this for a while. He went to all the tents and just stood there looking in with his mask on!
Damon woke up with a dirty face because he moves so much in his sleep that he rubbed the bottom of the tent onto his face.
Kyler sharing his doughnut stick.
Damon walking around with Daddy
Kyler had a great time with cousins. Conner and Jace are much better at the posing thing!
Kyler and Avery waking up Savanna and Kacy sleeping in the back of the pickup. Papa told us that he would bring a tent for Kenney and the boys (I slept in the camper). We didn't realize that it was for us and Savanna, Kacy, and Kaden. They all chose to sleep elsewhere. I can't say I blame them!
We are not quite sure what Damon was doing, but I think this is hilarious. We did not pose him like this; this is just our funny little boy!
We are not the most exciting family in the world, but somehow the boys find things to do around our tiny apartment. They keep us entertained by the funny things they do and say. It has been so nice to have Kyler wanting to play with Damon. He will say, "Damon, let's go play in my room." This is a new thing that is amazing. Both the boys playing and having fun (most of the time), and they always make a HUGE mess. I cherish this time even if it only lasts about 10 mins. However, the last few days Kyler has been using that time to go poop in his pants. I am trying to weigh the odds of two boys playing vs. cleaning dirty underwear! These are just a few of the things I find the boys doing.
Damon climbed into the toy organizer. I think the square he climbed into was at least two or three off the ground.
Basketball is almost always involved
It is hard to find a happy-medium goal height. Damon needs it a little lower, and Kyler obviously needs it higher.
Kyler loves movies, but Damon is still not really interested. Damon will lay down and get covered with a blanket to at least appear as if he is watching.
This is one of Kyler's first attempts as riding his new scooter he got for his birthday. Kenney showed him how to use the break, and he sometimes gets too focused on using the break rather than watching where he was going. He caught on really quickly and successfully used the break by the third time he tried.
Damon no longer stays in his bed :( I am not too happy about this new adventure in our lives. First, it scares me that he can and does climb out. Second, there is nothing to keep him in his bed. We have lowered the rail so it's not quite such a big drop, but it is amazing that he can do this.
Some funny things Kyler has said lately:
"Dang it"
(Yes that came from me, so now I have to be really careful with what I say) The sad part is that he uses it correctly.
"Mommy, it's dirty. Clean it up."
I had not had a chance to clean off the counters after making lunch because our water was turned off, so there were crumbs all over. He climbed up on the counter and told me to clean it up!
"Ever"
He says this word with a lot of passion. We are not quite sure what it means, but when he is angry or serious it is his final statement.
"My legs hurt. I too little."
He says this every time I ask him to cleanup or he needs something. If he wants a drink, and I tell him to go get his cup, he will tell me he is too little or his legs hurt.
"ARRRGHH"
He does this to mimic me also. Usually when I find a big mess I have to clean, I will say this. So now Kyler does too. He always does it after I do, but he also does it while he is playing or doing other things when he gets upset.
I can't believe Kyler is 3!! Well, some days I think I have really only been a parent for 3 years? It has to be longer than that, and then I think about how big Kyler is and how much he has grown. It's crazy!! This was the first year that Kyler really got excited about his birthday, and it was so much fun!
We love our Kyler Dude. He is really into Superheros these days and loves Spiderman, Ironman, Captain America, the Hulk, and Thor. We have multiple conversations everyday about them. He loves to play outside, occasionally play with his brother, say funny things, use the iPad constantly, watch movies, sing songs, play matching games and games with letters, go to the park and storytime, and spend time with his Daddy! Kyler is never boring and always up for an adventure!
He got a big package from Grandma and Grandpa Hill and was super excited when he found so many cool things, especially the Captain America stuff!
Here's our little Superhero
The punching bag was a huge hit too!
Kyler wanted ice cream cones for his birthday this year! I was more happy about that than anyone. I love ice cream, but even better than that was the fact that I didn't have to come up with some way to make a Spiderman or Batman cake. I do not possess those kind of creative skills!
It takes a lot of concentration to show 3 fingers. Every time someone would call and ask him how old he was, he had to hold up 3 fingers. He is getting much better (and faster).
Ice cream everywhere! He ate the entire cone. I was pretty amazed, but I guess not really surprised!
Damon enjoyed his ice cream just as much. He had it everywhere. It was in his belly button, on his hair, under his chin, and everywhere in between.
Kyler was a little anxious to blow out the candles this year! I think he blew them out 3 times. I guess he's making up for years past!
