Easter 2020, Unlike Any Other

Going with the theme of 2020, Easter will be a holiday that would be unique! There was only one egg hunt, and I believe it was the first Easter Sunday any of us were not at church, at least in the traditional sense. We has a small family gathering at Kevin and Kerry's house on Saturday before Easter and did an egg hunt for the kids, with a semi-traditional dinner to follow. Sunday was a little different than our typical at home church because I made the kids get dressed up. I told them this Sunday was different than all the rest and we should treat it that way. Radley asked why he had to get dressed up, and I told him, "If Jesus died for you, surely you can dress nice for him." I didn't have anymore questions after that!! It was a quiet and nice day being together. I even got a nap! I know that hasn't happened on an Easter Sunday for a while!

A small family gathering still consists of 11 kids, haha!
Our bunch
All ready to go
I thought the egg hunting would be a piece of cake for this girl, but she got distracted early on by one open egg.
She walked right up to an egg that was open.  She found the candy and would not let it go!  She kept that piece in her hand forever and wouldn't pick up anymore eggs!  She just wanted the candy opened.
The one open egg in that entire circle.
She was a little confused about why we wanted her to pick up the eggs.
We had plenty of space to do a 'social distancing' egg hunt!!
Trying to find the $$ eggs/
These two are always glued to one another.
Kyler looking through his eggs.
He found $3!!  Bentley did too, but Radley didn't find any.  She walked up to him and gave him one of her dollars.  It was really sweet!
I told the kids I wanted one good picture for Easter.  I got what I wanted!!
Radley gave a really good talk about Jesus Christ being crucified.
Kyler wrote a talk about resurrection.  He did really well.  (Damon and Bentley did not cooperate and choose not to participate)
The kids got a package from my Aunt DeeAnne.  They were super excited!

These kids took off quick!! I was impressed how fast they got down the yard!

Mackenzie finally started to get some momentum, but she was still pretty clueless.

She was pretty cute to watch!

Stay at Home Fun

You would think not much happens when you're stuck inside with 5 kids all day, but let me tell you, there are plenty of things happening around here!  I'm not so sure as many things would happen without Mackenzie...
My house is, more often than not, looking like this these days.  I can't keep up with home school and the girls!  School typically wins, espically in the mornings, and by the afternoons, I'm just too tired to care!
One day our internet was down, and with distance learning that's a problem!  The school had told use that we could use their WiFi if it was no accessible to us at home.  I knew that left us without an excuse to do school, and I didn't want to wait for ours to come back because it usually takes the entire day (I was right; it didn't come back until around 9:00pm).  So we loaded everyone up to see if it was working at the school.  Of course it was!  This was a good and bad thing because we could get school done and not be behind, but now I had to help everyone with two little girls that were not entertained in a parking lot!!  Needless to say, it was a rough morning.  15 minutes in Bentley needed to go poop and then about an hour later Radley needed to also.  Mackenize was less than thrilled to be at the school, and it was getting hot!  It ended up being 95 that day, so I'm glad we didnt' wait to do it until after lunch!  Finally we got everything done and headed home.  Distance learning has so many disadvantages!!
This little personality provides constant entertainment!
But she's just so darn cute!
I was cleaning the bathroom and left for two minutes to throw the towels in the washer.  This is what I came back to...
She didn't seem to get the message that there is a toilet paper shortage!
However, she was very proud of herself!
Toilet paper takes longer to unroll than floss.  Trust Mackenzie, she has experience!!
Papa picked out a new puppy and this is the one he picked.  The kids really liked getting to see all the cute puppies.
These two blue eyed boys are the best of friends!  They love being around one another!

This girl is just too much sometimes, but she is so stinking cute!! We love watching her and everything she does. Sometimes I'm not fast enough to catch all of her disasters. Thankfully, this time she was just being cute rather than destructive.

Kenney's Swarm Capture

Kenney's birthday present came a few days late, but he was able to catch a swarm of bees!! It was the easiest catch he will probably ever get, but we were all super excited for him no matter how easy it was.  Kevin's family was eating dinner when Kerry noticed a lot of bees flying around everywhere in their backyard.  Eventually they all started to gather on their trampoline of all places!  Kenney went running as soon as he got the text!  So far the bees are still in his beehive and seem to be doing well.  After such a disappointing end to last year's bee season, we are all hopeful this is a good start for this year!
Kevin sent this picture to Kenney right as he was finishing dinner, saying that some bees were swarming in his backyard.
They started to gather underneath the trampoline.

They stayed like this until Kenney got there and was suited up in his bee suit.
The master in action.

Kenney admits he hit the swarm too hard, but he never thought they would drop so easily. He said he only had 2 or 3 causalities.

He left the box there hoping the rest of the bees would sense that the queen was inside and then follow. It seemed to work because within 15 or 20 minutes they were all pretty much inside, and then he could take them to his beehive.

Homeschool

Kyler and I did some science experiments and learned about acids, bases, and simple reactions.  He had a lot of fun!

The reading fort they made for virtual spirit week.  Don't let them fool you, this picture was totally staged!!
Damon got quite 'comfortable' for school this day.  They are all supposed to at least brush their teeth and get dressed before we start school work, but I haven enough battles to fight these days. I just let him stay this way!
I've added typing to their list of classes.  If the school is going to lend them computers they are going to learn to type!!
This package of M&M's really spoke to me!

These are a couple videos of Kyler's experiment.

Stay-at-home Activities

Kenney was able to borrow this virtural reality headset from a coworker.  It has been really fun for the kids to play.  It really is a very unique experience.  I can only imagine the kind of games that will be coming out in the future!  I guess I didn't get as many pictures or videos as I thought, but all of them really loved playing with it.

Radley learning how to navigate and play some games.

Radley was pretty funny to watch. He didn't add a bunch of extra moves like Damon did, and he was a little more interactive than Kyler.

Bentley entertaining to watch.  This game she was playing things were jumping out at her.  She kept trying to get closer to Kenney to keep her safe, haha!!
