It always seems harder to see Kyler's growth through a basketball season until the tournament. He seems to always shine during those last few games, and it's so fun to watch!! His team was younger and smaller than most of the teams they played this year, but they never got blown out. They fought and played really well. They lost a lot of close games and won some too. Kyler is getting more attentive and aggressive. He no longer runs away from the ball and has gotten so much more tough! His team will play Damon's next year so it should be an interesting game!!
It was so good to see Kyler trying to dribble the ball rather than just looking to pass!
Going for the shot
Although it looks like Kyler is shying away from the ball, this was actually taken right after Kyler blocked that kid's shot! It was a great play!
Good straight up defense!!
Free Throws
The team after a hard loss to a team that they can't seem to beat!! They played the team last year 3 times and only once this year, but in total they have only lost by 6 points in 4 games! For once we want to beat the Drillers!!
The weird way Kyler will run down the court.
The first game of the tournament was Kyler's best game! Here's one of the shots he made.
He also made a 3 point shot in that game.
Although, he doesn't make the shot, we were proud of how Kyler didn't just immediately shoot the ball or pass it. He took the effort to dribble around someone and make a play!
Kyler has gotten so much more aggressive! He was usually really good about rebounding and blocking out. One time (not in this video) Kyler's coach sent him specifically to block out a shooter on free throws because two other kids on his team failed to do it. Kyler listened and the kid wasn't able to get the rebound because Kyler blocked him out! In this video he gets knocked down but gets up and keeps going with out pouting or tears!!
One of the many Saturdays we were in Altus and I was in Walmart grocery shopping, this is how they were entertaining themselves!!
Damon had a long, successful, growing, and fun basketball season this year. Kenney was kind of forced into coaching these boys, but I think that ended up being for the better. He did a great job, but it was challenging. He had boys that struggled to play as a team and a lot of very active boys that had a hard time focusing. Some days he would come home from practice wondering why he was even trying with these boys!! The season started out great with lots of wins, went through a dip in how they played, and ended with a high as they played and passed so well! If they will all play together, this is a tough team to beat!
Damon personally grew a lot. His speed is unmatched! He could catch up to anyone on a fast break and stop them from getting a layup. He naturally plays amazing defense without fouling the other team and plays great help defense. I don't know how many passes stole, but one game he forced 6 turnovers in a row! His dribbling got better as the season went on, and he passed the ball to anyone that was open. It really was fun watching him play!
Getting ready to play!!
Free throws!
Bringing down the ball
Arms always out and ready to get that ball! He moved his feet really well and hardly ever fouled anyone. He had quick hands and feet!
How most of the time out huddles looked, no 2 kids looking the same way and Kenney only having the attention of 1 kid.
Jumping into the passing lane. Damon had countless steals throughout the season.
Damon and the team in general got very good and seeing the open man and passing it to them. There was a struggle in the middle of the season where a lot of the boys were only passing to their friends. It was really frustrating.
Damon getting in front to cut off the fastbreak.
Kenney promised the boys he would get them ice cream if they won the first day of the tournament making the bracket much easier for us!
Tournament Champions!!!
Damon had several good plays that I didn't get on film. It wasn't particularly easy to get video with 4 other kids to take care of, but I did my best. He made drives like this often!
Nice shot!
Sometimes he would drive and not make the basket, but he had great moves!!
After a steal Damon always raced down the court to try and make a layup.
On a team full of attitudes and cliques, it was always fun to see how happy Damon would be when one of his teammates had a good play.
These girls, these girls!! They are quiet demanding and entertaining right now. There is always something going on with them. It is fun watching the together, especially as Mackenzie gets more and more interactive.
Poor Bentley!! She got sick one weekend and the fever kicked her butt!!
"Take my picture and ask Shandi if I look good?"
The pouty lip!!
So sad!!
Lovin' taking baths together.
Mackenzie loves her bathes, as long as it's not too crazy or loud in the bathroom.
The random facial expression while watching some show. It was so funny to watch her face change as the mood in the show change.
Fun times in the car waiting on the boys after school!
Then Mackenzie started screaming and got scared when she heard Big Sis
She loves to look at herself too. She will smile at anyone!
Being as we live in Wellington and not much entertainment happens nearby, when we found out Joe Diffie was coming to town Kenney bought tickets! We went on a real date!! The concert was pretty good. Kenney recognized most of the songs; I recognized some. Besides a few Old Country songs, it was fun! We were both amazed at the musical talent the band had. It was nice to see live music being played rather than just recordings. Kenney even got an autographed guitar pick at the end of the concert!
This is one of the songs I could actually sing along to!
I didn't know this one as well, but I did recognize it playing on the radio.
Kenney walked in for lunch one day and this was Bentley. Posing in swimsuit bottoms and boots!!
It has been so hard to get a good picture of both of them together.
Cleaning the chicken coop!!
Radley was so excited to use the gloves, a mask, and the scoop to clean out the chicken coop! It was funny until I realized he had gloves and a mask but no shoes!! So gross!
Showing me that she cleaned up the living room. Lately she has been cleaning things up all on her own! It has been great. She'll just randomly start picking up the entire living room. Most of the time she just puts everything on the couch (which I do because I put it in piles for everyone to put away), but she is doing it all on her own! It's great and makes both of us happy!
Damon had been asking for days if one of his friends could come over to play. I told him that was fine, but I needed to write a note to his mom because I had never talked to her before and couldn't contact her. This is the paper he brought me to write the note. It was so tiny!! As I was writing it, I wrote my phone number but didn't have enough room so I had to erase what I had written to write even smaller. Damon see me erase and says, "Good thing I brought you a pencil." Little punk!! I told him to put the note somewhere it wouldn't get lost, so he got a piece of tape and taped it to his clothes that he would be wearing the next day!! Weirdo, but it worked his friend was able to come play!
At lease one of them is kinda smiling.
She is seriously the sweetest baby. None of our other kids would just lay on us and snuggle just because. She lets us and wants us to just hold her like this. It's so nice!!
This is how Kenney and the boys entertain one another while I got get groceries.
Bentley was showing Kenney her ballet moves while I was in a meeting but realized she couldn't do the splits with her skirt on.
Well, she fixed her problem. Just take the shirt off!! Also if you listen closely you can hear Radley whisper to Kenney about Bentley almost hitting the other girl with her butt!!
