Haircut #2

Kyler has been needing a haircut for quite some time now. My Aunt Debbie gave him his first haircut in July, but it seems to grow pretty fast. He continually gets called a girl no matter what I have him dressed in. Someone called him a girl that day while he was in his blue tiger outfit. So, we thought a haircut might help his masculinity.

Kenney's nanny was a beautician for over 30 years and gave us some much needed help in the haircutting department. Kyler did pretty well, as well as you can expect from a 7 month old! He definitely looks like a boy now.

We distracted him with lipstick. (Don't worry Aunt DeeAnne we gave him the good stuff, it's MaryKay)

All smiles. He didn't cry once!

A Saturday with the Keys

We usually try and get as much done as possible on Saturdays, especially since we don't know how much longer we will have good weather. This weekend we started off with garage sales and errands. While Kyler took a nap, I started prepping the outside of the house to paint it. Kyler has a had a really hard time lately and been super super fussy so he needed to get out. We decided to go to the park. He loves being outside and was not extremely happy at first, but at least he wasn't crying!! The ducks were not that interested in us or our bread, so Kenney tried to get some attention from the fish. That was a bust too! Needless to say, we just laid on our blanket and enjoyed being outside while Kyler cheered up!

Getting a little more excited about being at the park

Yeah!! He's smiling. Did I mention that he is now pulling up on things?

After the park, we went back to the house. I made some cookies for Sunday dinner and tried to entertain Kyler. I made Mint Milano Cookies (one of my dad's favorites). I'll have to make some for you sometime, Dad. Kenney fixed another lawn mower. We decided that if all else fails, Kenney can become a lawn mower repair guy!! I don't have pictures of the riding lawn mower, but it's running too. We also watched some football. Texas won, finally and Ohio State lost. It was a good day!

On the Move

He is up and going, well kind of. Kyler has decided that he wants to crawl, but has not quite figured out how to use his arms. He is a good army crawler when he really wants something you put in front of him. Lucky for me he is not completely mobile. He doesn't crawl from room to room, yet.

We took him to the doctor a couple weeks ago and found out that in the last two months he only gained 1 pound!! He's only in the 11th percentile for weight. Before you turn me in to CPS, the doctor said there is nothing to worry about. He's just an active little boy. I guess she noticed how much he moved while we were in her office! Now he has to eat at least 5-6 times per day, not including nursing. He eats breakfast, a snack, lunch, a snack, dinner, and another snack before bed. Kenney thinks he's finally gaining weight, but I think he is too active and has a metabolism like his daddy.

Oma, my mom, came for a visit too. For some reason we never remember to take pictures while she is here, but we had a great time. Kyler was spoiled rotten the entire time. We got to eat some good food, make really cute curtains, go shopping, visit my nanny, drink Diet Coke (yes, she gave Kyler his first taste of Diet Coke and Red Vines), and just relax around the house. She brought us lot of new things too (2 dressers, bed frame, TV, blower, weed-eater, 100ft extension cord, 2 drills, 2 saws, a huge bucket of nails, legos, books, lots of Kyler clothes, and food). Yes, she spoils all of us. Did I mention that we love her going to all these auctions?

He loves being outside and watches every car that drives by
until Kenney's little pickup pulls in the driveway.

Sitting Up!!

Kyler decided last Friday that he wanted to sit up, so he did!! Before, he was pretty good about keeping his balance for a few seconds on his own, but he could not balance himself very well when he started playing with a toy. On Friday, however, he just started sitting up all by himself. He does that with a lot of things, when he decides to do something he just does it. He rolled over once and now he does it all the time. If he would just decided to crawl I know he could do it. But let's be honest, I am not in any rush to have a baby getting into everything!!

Bath Time

Since he began sitting up so well, He likes his baths so much more. He loves it when the water is coming out of the faucet and loves to splash the water. Good thing Aunt Z picked out some bath toys for him. He will have tons of fun when they get here. I can't believe how big he is getting!!

Way too busy to look at the camera

Aww, there's that adorable smile

Crazy hair

Look how long it is getting, at least on top! He has way longer eyelashes than me. Thank goodness for his daddy!!

Getting Dirty

For those of you that don't know, I hate to be dirty, especially my hands. I have never been a good outdoors woman because of that. This last week I have been so proud of myself because I have gotten my hands dirty!!

First, I began by wanting to get some fresh herbs. So I got some plants, potting soil and everything. I dug my hands into the dirt and covered them with soil. I was so excited I had fresh herbs that I planted. Kenney was less than impressed! He said that did not count as getting my hands dirty. I totally thought it counted.

So I decided to really get my hands dirty. I skinned an entire chicken WITHOUT gloves!! I know that is a huge shock to most of you who know that I avoid touching raw meat at all costs. I almost took a picture of it, but decided it looked pretty nasty and did not want that on my blog. I know these things might not seem like a lot to most people, but to me, I have accomplished so much! Kenney agreed that the chicken counted.

My Herbs: Rosemary, Sage, Oregano, & Basil

Our House Plant

Kyler, of course, is a true boy and does not mind being dirty, at all. He acts as though he is being horrifically tortured if I try and clean his face in any way. He seriously screams bloody murder.

He was actually blowing snot bubbles. I didn't get one, but the snotty face and the bib fit perfect!
