While the Boys are Away...

The boys have been asking to go fishing for a while now. Kenney finally decided the house projects can wait; he needs to take the boys. Papa decided he would go too, so while Kenney was finishing up a project, he picked up the boys to go catch some bait fish at Nanny & Papa's house before going to the church ranch to do some catfishing. Kevin and all of his boys ended up going along too, so all the girls were left alone for the afternoon/evening. The boys had a blast from what I heard!

Kenney's phone hardly had any space for videos and pictures, but he managed to get a few.  At one point the boys got into the super muddy nasty creek.  Kenney was sitting back in a chair with his eyes closed while Damon and Radley thought they were being sneaky.  Radley said, "Dad is going to be so mad at us."  But they got in anyway.  Then he walked up to Kenney and noticed Kenney was awake and told him they were in the mud.  Kenney said he didn't care, and Radley ran off say, "Dad's not even mad at us!!"  He was so excited!  They caught fish, got muddy, and told/heard spooky stories.  They had a great time just being boys!!

At the end of the night, all 3 of my boys walked into the house in shirts and underwear, haha!  They were all too muddy, but had a lot of fun!

Damon super excited about his fish.
Radley caught some fish too, but I think he had more fun playing in the mud!!
Kyler caught the biggest and most fish of the day!  He had to run and put some pants on to take the picture, haha!
...The girls will play

We weren't prepared for this unexpected girls night, but we still had fun.  Bentley had a tea party and loved it.  We picked up some dinner, had a dance party, watched a movie, and enjoyed a much quieter house!!  Next time we'll have to plan better.

These girls have some moves!!

They had fun jumping around listening to music too!

These are some pictures of different times at Kevin and Kerry's house.

One night the 4 older kids had a sleep over and watched a movie outside.
They thought it was pretty cool.

Watching the movie on the trampoline
Mackenzie has so many kids willing to play with her, if she would only let them.  Sometimes she gets distracted enough and lets herself have fun!  Conner was being really sweet playing in the sand with her.

School is DONE

This is the first year since school began for our kids when I'm not sure who's more excited for school to be out. Usually I'm not too happy about it, but this year seems to be the exception for most things! I think we are all pretty happy school is over!! It feels like we have already had summer break, but at least we can all take a break from school work. We had an ice cream party to celebrate being done. We all earned some ice cream this year! Now it's time for the real work to begin... chores!! Wish me luck!

I think it's a toss up for who looks the most ridiculous in this picture, haha!
Mackenzie started drawing a lot more when she saw all the kids writing.  I think it's super adorable how she gets on her belly to write!

Getting Through This

Trying to make it through the last few weeks and days of school was rough. Everyone was sick of it; me included! Kyler was great. He had the most work and just wanted to get it done! It was nice to see him take responsibility and get it done (as much as he could without help). Damon was great, if his attitude was great... We struggled to get through it, but we did. He's a super smart kid when he wants to be. Radley did really well too. Thankfully he didn't have too much work to do and could breeze through it (when he wanted to). Some days it took him longer, but overall he did great too. I'm pretty sure they would all agree that they liked their teachers at school a lot more than me, but in no way do I want that job ever again!
The explosion of school lunches
Kenney's been growing some grass again, and doing a fabulous job.
Yep we are all OVER this whole home school thing.
The amount of packaging and waste with these lunches is pretty ridiculous!
I literally laughed and and embarrassed by this when I read it.  At least he has backup plans!!

Quarantine Activities

It feels like we haven't done anything lately, but at the same time, it seems like we've done a lot. Kenney's actually been pretty busy lately. He's been building a playset, planting a garden, growing grass, playing with the kids, fixing up the rent house, and so much more. The poor guy is definitely not getting a break during this whole quarantine thing. He even took a day off work to help get the playset built. We knew our trip to Hawaii would be cancelled and we would be stuck at home quite a bit, so we ordered the playset. They have LOVED it. I knew Radley, Bentley, and Mackenzie would like it, but I have been very surprised at how much the other two boys have played on it. It's been great with the mild weather we've been having. We've been spending a lot of time outside and made several trips to pick up school lunches on bikes/in the stroller. We've also spent almost every weekend at Kevin and Kerry's house because Kenney has been working on the rent house and I need to got to the store. The kids have loved it and always find things to do.

This little girl has been very blessed with brothers that are always willing to help her!

Jumping from the swings.
He looks so long and skinny!!  I know he always looks that way, but this picture really highlights it.
A little less Stretch Armstrong-ish!
Radley taking a leap.
I know when 5 kids are home all day we have messes everywhere, but I feel like it is so much worse these days!  Mackenzie's age doesn't help, but when I'm helping the boys with school there are always messes everywhere!
And everyday the cushions are used to build some kind of bed/fort/landing platform/etc.  This was Kyler's throne one day.
I've been doing an inventory of our food and storage products.  This is Mackenzie's way of helping me.  She was either doing this or spreading the products everywhere!
We were late to the game, but this is our sidewalk chalk art that many people have been doing.
Working hard.
Ready to pull off the tape.
Finished product!  They loved how it turned out.
Radley was reading a book about drawing and how often it begins with lines and dots.  He had to do a drawing with dots and one with lines.  This is his line inspired art.  I bet you can't figure out his inspiration??
This girl loves all dogs now.  She is lucky she has been around patient dogs because she is not very soft!  She hits them repeatedly.
Kerry and I snuck away for a few hours to go to Sam's and to GET AWAY, but we stopped at Chick-fil-a for dinner.  I was trying to get a picture of the ridiculous way they were handing us food.  They put the food bags (which several different people touched) in a plastic tub and reached that across the window, rather than just handing the bags directly to us.  I was so confused!!  I completely missed the point they were hoping to accomplish by doing this??  Anyway, it was so odd.  Happy COVID-19 memories!
But these 2 mommas got a break and some food we didn't have to cook!!
They made some 'seats' or 'chairs' in the sandbox.
Right after this they got our squirt guns and got soaked!  They were no longer sandy; they were muddy!!  So fun, for them not us!
The kids really liked inspecting all the fish that Papa, Kevin, Conner, and Jace brought back from their fishing trip.
I think these boys are ready to fish!!
I was shocked Bentley picked one up too!  Look at that smile; she was really proud of herself.
They caught some pretty big fish.  Our boys didn't try and hold the 26lb one they caught on a jug line, but it was HUGE!!
This past Sunday Kenney made this stand to help encourage our kids to be more excited to participate in church.  We're hoping it works!

They got really excited when we took off the tape!

April Snow Shower?!?

Yep!  We got snow in April.  We usually get at least one good snow storm every year, but this year we haven't had one, until this morning.  It was pretty good snow, but didn't last very long.  I didn't want the kids to go play because I knew it would be a mess, but I let them because we don't get snow often enough around here.  Kyler choose to forgo the snow, but the others had fun!

Pretty sure the snowman was half grass half snow!
Every time it snows I get a piccture of Damon eating the snow, not because I'm asking for it but because he is ALWAYS eating it!!
Bentley does the same thing.
It was melting fast!!
They have quite the personalities!
Kicking a snowball
Both still eating it.
Bellyflop on the snow (don't worry he was on the trampoline)
Kicking snow
Posing with their originally named snowman, Olaf!  Radley was proud of his hard work, haha!

Lipstick has become an permeant fixture on her face.
Our poor playhouse has been subject to rain, wind, snow, hail, and heat!
They ended the night with a movie and sleeping in the living room.  Radley ended up with the majority of the cushions.
I honestly didn't think this would go well.  I never thought they would go to sleep, but I was pleasantly surprised.  They went right to sleep and didn't bother me all night long.  Damon was thrilled to sleep with Acey (or so he thought, Acey was put outside in her doghouse, but it made Damon think she slept with him).

They always have so much fun in the snow. It's almost worth the mess and laundry they made.

They were making it 'rain snow'!!
