Christmas Basketball

Kyler's basketball team was in the Childress league which played every weekend leading up to Christmas. They didn't have many kids sign up to play this year, and with injuries and Christmas activities, there were only 4 kids to play in the tournament.  The team had been winning all the games easily up to that weekend.  They asked Damon to play and Kenney to coach the tournament. We all thought that would be fine, but then Kyler and Damon both got sick the week leading up to the tournament.  Kyler played really well considering everything because we didn't think he would be able to run and breathe.  Damon, who we thought had recovered, could not breathe.  The first game was pretty rough, but then at the beginning of the second game, he couldn't play anymore.  There were only 4 kids left.  The other teams played 4-on-4 with us, but it was a hard game with no breaks for anyone while the other team had 10 kids to sub in and out.  It didn't turn out how we'd hoped, but the boys did as well as they could have.

This was pretty much the extent of Damon's defense, which tells you had bad he felt.  This is not how Damon plays.

Kyler made some great shots.

I think Damon got some points in that first game even feeling as bad as he did.

Kyler also got some great blocks!

After this hard play, Damon was done.  He ran really hard, was fouled pretty bad, and didn't get the call.  It was enough for him.  He never played again.

Kyler had to use his dribbling skills; his crossover is getting better.
